I played Hockey (field/proper) to quite a high level till a few years back. Goal keeper, but started to pick up too many injuries, and 30 odd years of AstroTurf pitches have taken its strain.
Now just a bit of tennis. |

Honestly, the gym has taken over my life to play sports now but there was a point I was playing 5-a-side and cricket for a local team every week. I also did table tennis for a bit. I fucking love playing sports but it does nothing for that bicep pump |

"I was thinking about the Ironman 10k when it comes this way, but there's no entries left
Yeah, all ironman events fill up quite quickly, and they're not cheap!"
It's very variable if I'm fit to push a 10k so I don't like entering so long in advance |

"Ironman triathlon. Next is Barcelona in October, anybody else?"
Did my first 70.3 last month and aiming for Ironman Vitoria or Tallin next year. How’s training going?
Not sure it counts as a sport but I’ll take it.
Also Hyrox in the triathlon off season. |

Pretty good, last year I was the final finisher, 10 mins inside cutoff. I'm aiming for a lot better this time.
I would like to try hyrox, I'm quite muscular for a triathlete so I think it would suit me. |

You cut it fine! But nice job on completing, no mean feat. There’s a lot of crossover from tri to Hyrox, quite a few athletes and coaches have done that. The trouble now is getting entry into a uk event, nearly impossible. Easier if you don’t mind going abroad. I’ve done lots of events and nothing quite matches up for me, good luck if you do go for it |

Yeah, I was the final finisher hope to be a lot faster this year after doing more training. I'll take a look at hyrox, there's a gym near me. Only problem is the same gym also does crossfit, which is have a hard job supporting after they came out very anti trans. |

"...63 and still doing ironman. Fair bloody play "
I'm lucky, during my youth I was always mediocre at sport, the taller boys always out competed me, faster, stronger. But as I've got older, the 6' plus men have developed back, knee, hip problems, or become overweight, while I've pretty much just carried on being the same mediocre that I was in my teens. The human body just isn't designed to be 6' plus! |

"Oh. I forgot horse riding. That's a sport. I do that.
That's a sport I can claim but neither of us ever did it for anything but pleasure and never competitively "
I did it competitively as a child only. |

"Tell us about medieval fencing? Sounds interesting.
Here's hoping we haven't been taken in and it isn't "not being allowed to use power tools" !!!
"
The tournaments Dave competes in, are 1vs1 knockouts, 2 or 3 minute rounds, full plate armour (about 30kg), steel swords, full contact.
There are videos on our website. |
