I have a few in collection from various boozers in the past.

The simple reason is space and economy, its far easier to load and wash more of the standard shaped pint glasses for a pub which is processing 1000s a day.

It may seem like the are literally only saving pennies but these things do add up and for a business every single penny saved is the ethos.

Also as more breweries send out their own branded glasses the need and demand for the chunky mug declines and as they get lost to theft, damages etc it's not worth replacing them out of your own profits.

it is interesting that you point this out.

havnt given it a thought until now.

maybe pubs/clubs use plastic as glass can be a weapon? i doubt but yes i dont see them
