Manchester (she/her)

Right in the centre of the flat. But I hardwire my computer in - snake of tiny network wire along the walls, because I can't be arsed ripping the walls down

Get a dedicated router and switch your ISP one to modem mode, they’re not expensive and usually have way more features.

Have you seen the antennae on a decent router? It’d be like jamming an umbrella up your chutney

On my desk. Engineer told me it shouldn't be too low down or too close to a window as it can cause interference.

Just try different areas. I have a MyFi so best place is on the bay window, but if you’re wired the best place for coverage is high on a shelf centre of your house. Point the little Ariel’s away from solid brick or stone walls too

North West

It's right by the phone line inlet thingy and positioned on my work desk. It doesn't give great signal in son's room (garage conversion) but it's otherwise decent.

It's Sky basic one without any telly package.

Get a signal booster for your son's room they work a treat.

How will that encourage him to move out though?!

"Do you pronounce it rooter or rowter?

Rowter, although route rhymes with root in my dialect.

There's a very simple explanation for this. I'm Australian. In my dialect, "rooter" means fucker (context example "I'm goin' home t' mah sheila to root 'er"). Swearing should be intentional, and occasionally one must discuss network equipment with bosses, in-laws, grandparents etc. Rowter is a neat dodge.

When my Son claimed I couldn't stop his phone accessing the Internet as he'd do a factory reset on the router and use the default code... I took the damn thing to work
