A reclusive tribe in the Amazon finally got hooked up to the internet, thanks to Elon Musk — only to be torn apart by social media and pornography addiction, elders complain.
Brazil’s 2,000-member Marubo tribe has been left bitterly divided by the arrival of the Tesla founder’s Starlink service nine months ago, which connected the remote rainforest community along the Ituí River to the web for the first time
That is messed up....considering (I believe) that the internet is the cause of alot of today's issues why on earth would anyone do this? |

They noted the younger members were lazy as a result of internet. Some parents were thankful for the educational opportunities the internet afforded their families. Others worried about the addictive nature and how children reacted to the idea of being without internet.
To think they walked through the depths of the Amazon with the satellites on their backs to bring this to their communities in an effort to speed up emergency response, only to see it affect them so much in only nine months was mad. It reminds me of an article from some years back saying technology heads such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and others delay and restrict screen time for their children for decades. |

Humans naturally move toward technology because in many instances its the lazy option, bank card, phone, watch saves you using cash, online shopping saves you going to the shops, online food delivery saves you going out, internet problem solving saves going to the library, computer at home saves going to work, no cash no banks etc etc etc its somehow better to go and do it rather than waste hours online trying to do something that you could physically do in an hour or two in person |

I think progress is about making life easier. It doesn't automatically make it good but it is unstoppable. I don't think any of us would want to go back to pre antibiotic days for instance and I rather like having a washing machine. |

I think progress is about making life easier. It doesn't automatically make it good but it is unstoppable. I don't think any of us would want to go back to pre antibiotic days for instance and I rather like having a washing machine. "
Another thing thats not great for our bodies stopping our own immune systems curing the problems..... Go to the Dr whats the first thing he/she prescribes Antibiotics I'm sorry I'm not lazy and would rather go out and get what i need unfortunately the internet has actually made it difficult to buy somethings you need. I use technology but i don't enjoy it |

Think this is Musk just fulfilling his god complex.
Should be like Star trek where they don't make stuff known to the locals till they are at place to cope with it. It will only be a recipe for things getting worse in their community. |
