I think I’ll have to get a stop watch on you. |

Same. However if I have a few items they need slow down for e.g. to weigh or remove a security tag I will strategically space those along the conveyor to give little pauses part way through. |

"Who wastes time bagging. Fuck that, I tip it all back into the trolley. Tip the trolley into the boot of the car. Get someone else to unload it.
Fast as fuck.
"
I tried that. The dog and cat wouldn't cooperate.

I load into trolley bags at the till. Just as fast as putting it all back in the trolley. Especially if you load the belt in groups so it goes into the same bag |

I'm old enough to remember when supermarkets had spare people just to help you pack. We have failed as a society.
Also, I've no idea what this thread is about. Are you not supposed to pack at the till? |

"They have self service till now anyone tried them ? "
Yes I have. It was fine. There was someone on hand to help/check you weren't putting caviar through as parsnips and it all went very smoothly. I did only have about ten items though |

The way the checkout staff chuck your shopping over at breakneck speed then ask cash or card do you want a receipt .
Then you wait for the card reader to catch up or o dear it wants you put your card in have a nice day.
Now get the fck out |

The staff are timed and get disciplined for being too slow at scanning and getting customers through the checkout. Beef should be with Aldi HQ. |

Which is why they are cheap. If you want a better quality service, lots of staff, you pay more for the goods. |

" Beef should be with Aldi HQ. "
It's not my beef , it's the employees beef. They should negotiate better t&C's.
I'll pack it the way I want to, where I want to.
I am paying them for the privilege of buying their goods. The least they can do is treat customers with a little gratitude. |

I pack at the till, with bags prepared and open and ready to go. I see it as a victory in life if I can keep up with the cashier and not incur their wrath - the buzz will keep me going for for a couple of days! |

Yup, so many items per minute, no more than two queuing at your till or open another one. All in-between date checking and putting out delivery, no pallets left 9n the floor for longer than a certain time, keeping the store tidy, rotating the stock room, getting the specials tables ready to go out, condensing down the last ones and managers ordering stock. Must admit there's more staff to a store than when I used to be a manager in one. But yeah scanning at the till fast is bad of them
(if someone tried to pack when I asked them politely to pack at the bench nd was rude I went faster, cause ya know I wasn't saying it for shits and giggles i had all of the above to do)

That’s shit what a stupid thing to get disciplined for I mean I could understand if someone was fast asleep at the till but howay man. Shit like that why I’ll never work as an employee ever again |

"I take my time and enjoy the experience. "
NOOOOO BumBums..
Please NO!!
I had doddery old farts blocking the way out this week, two abreast as a couple (single file was soooo easy to do!!), stopping in the exit adjusting his cap. Talking crap!!
It wasn't even fucking raining!!
Can't we just have a compulsory euthanasia law based on dumb and doddery? Or like a special island where they can all go and talk about Brexit or something?
I don't mind dumb on its own.
I don't mind doddery on its own either.
But don't put the fucking two together in my path.
Grrrrr and aaarrghhhhh and shittytitballs! |

It's one of the reasons I rarely use Aldi. It is literally a stones throw from our Tesco. At Tesco shop done checkout even on busy days never takes long. Aldi alas 6 tills 1 maybe 2 open queues right to the rear of the store! |

Tbh - I've jumped on this thread even though I can't stand Aldi. It's Lidl or Waitrose by choice, or ASDA and Tesco under duress. |

I only pack at the till when I have a basket. Most times I'll use the self serve option if there is one.
People who pack their bags in the trolley at the checkout deserve to find all their food out of date when they get home. |

Tbh I haven’t been asked for ID buying booz in Lidl, Waitrose, Tesco or Asda.
Also ghastly |

The trouble with Tesco is everything costs twice as much (or 4x as much in Waitrose), and the looming threat of destitution is enough for me to put up with lacklustre service elsewhere... |

But that is the whole point. You want good service, lots of staff, cashiers who have a little chat....you pay for it. You get what you pay for at cheap stores.

I get it, but no service I could receive at supermarkets is worth paying almost £5 for a ham sandwich (I'm looking at you, Waitrose) |

10+years ago the IPM was 40, I'd dread what it is now.
Get the small talk in too and you have to say hello and bye otherwise as a cashier you fail the MCM, which in turn means you fail the store and managers for their bonus.
It can be hard for a cashier, its not as simple as people may think
Unless your like me ...shit hot |

amateurs, the lot of you. I make it my mission to pack faster than they can lobe it through. I used to be a check out chick thou! 99% of time, I win.
What really annoys me at Aldi, is half way through unloading onto the belt, my weeks worth shopping. Some numpty starts unloading their basket. Not leaving enough room for my stuff. Why! And every week it's the same. |

This is how I do it … and tbh so do most people I see in the queue..
What I do object to however is always being treated like a shoplifter! … wanting to check in between inside and. Underneath bags!!! … apparently I might have inadvertently left something, so I’m told!
Bad etiquette which reaallllly winds me up -not just Aldi though. If I am unloading my shopping along the belt and the person behind me has a hand basket, I will always ask if they want to go in front of me as they will be quicker … however I must be in a minority as that offer is never reciprocated when I have a hand basket! |

Doughnut does exactly this! Years of working in Tesco paid off.
I hardly ever see anyone at the packing bench anymore. |

Not much option if you use a basket. I like the military style folk who have bags open across their trolley and drop stuff in with speed and precision. That's some organised shit! |

..and what about the wankers who have got plenty of time in the queue to get their payment method sorted out but, instead, start searching around in the deep hand bag recesses for their card, wodge of twenties, or worse still, their bloody fiddle around to find the payment app on the smartphone?

We do Sainsbury's self-scan as we go around the shop, with our bags carefully arranged. Very efficient! |

I can pack fast as fuck when I want to, but generally I pack on the bench, munching a pastry from the bakery section while I do.
Also, when you have a trolley full on the conveyor, it’s always polite to let someone with only an item or two go in front |

I'll have you know that many men, including me, carry hand bags!
However some of us get the card, etc. out during the time spent queueing. |

If you're quick and don't miss the bag then what's the difference between dropping it in the trolley to dropping it in the bag. Your killing 2 birds with one stone. Job done. |
