I retire in 2 weeks time . Can't wait . When the day comes to you good folk have retired is it an anti climax or do you embrace the day.

It's fucking amazing. xxxxxx

It's what you make of it.

I wake up so happy and content and I get so much done and the days go so quickly.

I'm happy for you. xx

Retired last year. Was OK at first, bit of a novelty. Now, I hate it. Feel I've lost my identity, contact with and from friends has fallen away. Every day is the same. Folk say 'join a club' 'get a hobby' 'oh if I were retired I'd do...blah blah blah'.

I've fallen into the self isolation trap and it's so hard to get out.

I sincerely hope your experience is better than mine

Absolutely love retirement!

I retired early and have been retired a year now.. what i would say is always have something to look forward too, whether that be a holiday or a weekend away, keep yourself busy, healthy and exercise (you dont have to be a gym bunny but keep moving) .. and last but not least, don't just stay indoors, get out a bit and meet up with you friends... It has worked for me!

Im excited for you.

I made a decision recently & planning to retire next summer and I can’t wait. I would actually do it sooner but want to wait until my youngest finishes uni.

I have a good 1-2 years worth of major house and garden projects to do and so many UK and Europe trips I’m planning and just looking forward to 4 seasons, a simple life, lots of quality unrushed time with friends and family, simple things like going to a cafe and reading a book or walking by a river …. On a ‘work’ day!

If after a couple of years i feel bored I’ll get a part time job

Retire!?

Hahahaaa! I'll never have to money to do that. I'm going to have to work until I die, or close enough.

Spend less or earn more would be solutions to that.

About 3 feet away from the fence

I will almost certainly be dead before I reach retirement age, whenever that is.

couple, us we him her.

"I will almost certainly be dead before I reach retirement age, whenever that is."

Same, still owe a fuckload on the house so even though I've been working since I was 15 some bad luck and bad financial decisions have left me with the prospect of working until I'm 70.

And if I make it to then I'll probably drop dead a week later.

40 year's in the building trade and my body is wrecked I can't imagine how I'm going to keep going another 15!!

Retirement is a pipedream something that one way or another I doubt I'll ever see.

See you'd think it was just common sense but the poster I replied to didn't seem to be able to put those pieces together in order to better their lot later in life.

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

I initially retired at 60 and was enjoying life, then one day a Head Hunter came knocking at the door offereing me a

lucrative job which I just could not refuse.

On reaching 70 I decided to give retirement another go and here we are 14 years on fully enjoying life and taking every day as it comes.

I do have health issues which affect my mobility, but as my GP said "keep taking the tablets", which I do.
