If a couple gets divorced can I get my gift back

No. A gift was GIVEN not loaned. The gift was GIVEN on the occasion of a marriage which took place. When something is GIVEN it is no longer the property of the giver.
Tough titties..... Was it a yacht ? |

From Solicitor
Personal gifts such as jewellery tend to stay within the ownership of the spouse or civil partner they were gifted to. Joint wedding gifts, such as a valuable artwork or an antique, are treated as matrimonial assets regardless of whose family or friends gifted them.
( and the courts will distribute them as they see fit - but the gift is not given back as it wasn't give to guarantee a long and happy marriage ) that bit was me |

No. It's an unconditional gift, for the relationship you've had, reflecting your best wishes for the couple. You can give further gifts after the wedding, it doesn't have to be a one time thing, as it's a wedding, you give without any ties or part-ownership |
