Tinnitus and how you manage it
Jump to: Newest in thread
Had for many years, I've got hearing aids that are supposed to help, but they don't, so I don't wear em, other than that I guess I just put up with it,
Trying to sleep is hard some nights when the whistling is in tune with your heart beat |

Sometimes it's there and I frikken hate it, other times not so much. At one point I wondered if everyone has the same annoying high pitched whistling in the head.
Something weird during Christmas, dark conservatory lit by flashing twinkling lights caused the noise in my head to attenuate. I started googling why that might be the case but no answers.
How do I deal with it? I don't. Sometimes playing back any noises reduces it. |

That's my tinnitus. It's about 8000hz maybe more and it's a high pitched whistle almost hissing. It's not the noise more the sensation around my ear |

"I've had it all my life but lately it's been worse
Meditation and sound therapy (8000hz) in one ear helps.
How do you manage yours? "
At night I don’t manage it. I just grin and bear it!
There’s nights where it’s not as bad as others.
Alcohol makes it a lot worse.
Daytimes is easy as music makes it disappear but I dont like to fall asleep with music on. |

I believe that the common advice is to avoid silence, external noises hive you a distraction from the internal noise.
There is a support organisation "tinnitus uk" who offer all sorts of help. I'm sure google will show you their website.

I have had it now for the last 6 years or more after having an ear infection (otitis externa).
A very high pitched whistle constantly day and night. I tend to have music/sound on most of the time with headphones just to sort of mask it out.

"Posture doing neck exercises alignment, balance. helps the (oxygen flow) through the ear cavity/channels
Yes you can breathe via your ears or air passes through if anything if you push it out "
Yeah my neck isn't great lately. Text neck and wanking can cause issues but yes, neck exercises I'll try |

I’ve had bouts in the past, mainly due to hearing damage from my wild and reckless youth
Was shown a technique years ago that seemed to help. Place your hands behind your neck, push your index finger in to the hollow behind you earlobes then press/massage the top of your spine/base of your skull with your thumbs.
Was something to do with nerve disturbance IIRC? |

As strobing is a known trigger for epilepsy and has also been used for psychological torture, and light therapy is also a well known medical treatment, might not be that unusual for your head jelly to like it |

Had it for many years(apey) and now have hearing aids that do help, years of server rooms with 100+gb ambient noise and not wearing hearing protection. Worth asking a specialist though, as may well be treatable. |

Grin and bear it. It's progressively getting worse. I cant really go a day without noticing it. I try to see the positives (always glass half full) and when it gets to a certain level and the clicking appears I know that my stress levels are high and I try to chill out.
I went to get my hearing tested a few months back and there are interesting developments in the US but it will take 10 years to clear medical trials.
So I think he said. I could see his lips moving. |
