So I got one of those pop up website things pop up looking all dramatic

Yes I had recently been searching porn

But this one caught my attention

As it said

“ WARNING ‘ Hackers now have full access to your photo library “

It made me smile as anyone who knows me personally, knows I have well less than 100 photos that I have ever taken in my life

A third of them are our racing as that’s our passion / hobby for me and E

A third are pictures of decks , canopy’s and furniture I have built that I use to advertise my work as I’m a self employed wood worker.

And the other third is pictures of our bulldog puppy

And I thought

Well what ever the hackers hope to gain by “ taking access to my picture gallery “ which they absolutely don’t , it’s the add claiming they do that’s the scam but still …

That they presumably would like to convince me to pay them to … not leak ..the so obviously compromising photos they now have access too …

Well

my dog has his own instagram

Our races are all completely public already

And exposing pictures of my woodwork will do me more favours by potentially more people seeing it

I wonder if other people have any experiences where the bots of scammers just happened to hit a rock bottom with you

Not necessarily scammers… but the wife of my ex-employer found my hotwife feed on another well known social platform… and some ‘paid stuff’ I used to do on another well known platform (not any more).

She had found out her husband had been screwing a client, and assumed it was me (it wasn’t).

Anyways she walked into my place of work and started kicking off very loudly at me about Fab, swinging, being a slut, and the other sites, and threatening to make my life miserable, and get me fired etc.

I was horrified, but I took a deep breath, took her to my store manager, told him everything in front of her, and told him she was threatening me. He offered to call the police, marched her out of the store, barred her for life, and confirmed to me that they don’t care about my past or private life.

Yes I quite agree

But it’s the specific unique reasons that I specified that mean that this particular scam

Being about pictures

When I don’t take any hardly ever that made it stand out as dumb

To try on me specifically

So I thought

There must be other people

For whom a specific scam couldn’t have popped up for least likely person to be taken in by it

Like person who has a “your bank account has been compromised” text but they are an end of the world prepper and De-banked 6yrs ago

That’s shit ad I’m really sorry that happened to you

Can sort of understand why a wife might see your pics and think

Yep my husband is totally going to try if he can

But that speaks more to your positive than anything else

But to the original topic

I also enjoy baiting the scammers that send a text saying

Your account at xyz bank is compromised

I think

I’ve heard of them

But I sure as shit don’t have an account … let’s waste some losers time here
