Do you find it easy to scroll on if you read or see something you don't like or agree with, on social media or here?
Do you prefer to get stuck into an online debate or add in an opinion that may not be welcomed?

I've never once commented on anything I've read on social media.
On here I find it really easy to scroll on unless it's something I have personal experience of and others are mocking it or trying to put a different spin on it.
I don't mind a debate when people are actually prepared to debate.
Starting a thread to beat people around the head with the subject matter and telling everyone who doesn't agree that they are a lesser human being for not having their experience isn't a debate. |

Is Fab not social media?

On the basis that social media isn't social it could probably be classed as that |

I notice that the first one or two responses to any post here or other online communities will often set the tone or mood.
If someone first responds by being sarcastic or rude then others jump in with boots on.
It’s a herd thing common on social media.
Scroll by the dicks. |

Scrolling on is way better for your mental health and proves that we all could quite easily get caught in the tittle tattle of life that’s not even remotely important, delete social media from your phone, you aren’t missing a great deal, and it’s amazing how much time you now have to be doing what you really should be doing |

Generally yes. Especially on Fab. I don't like pouring energy in to something when a) it's highly unlikely they're going to change their stance on a subject and b) I'd much rather focus on the positives.
Sometimes I bite because it's utterly ridiculous and I'm a bit overtired or whatever but most of the time I'll leave people to their stupidity on here. |

"Previously I might have gotten involved, but no longer. I view this place as an escape and not a place to debate controversial issues. Don't need the hassle."
What's happened to us? Is this a sign of getting old? |

Some opinions destroy themselves in the way they're constructed, so no need to engage.
Others I'll wait for a future comment/post, and if there's an opportunity for a rapier thrust I'll deliver it then.
That's fun.
And some would require a 40,000 word thesis to deconstruct, so I'll put my time into things I enjoy, which could/should ultimately serve to deconstruct them, but laterally and indirectly, rather than a direct one-on-one engagement. |
