Thus is a weird ine as it means men do all the labour in the bathroom. We lift the seat and lid and are expected to put the lid and seat back down. That's neither fair nor equal. We should lift the seat and lid for us but shouldn't the lady also move the lid and seat for her own use?

Bad is better.
Movies, soaps etc people like the bad guy. The edgy one who plays by his own rules. Loyal to no one, prepared to walk away without a care.
Being a safe bet soon gets boring and people move on.
