Mr. Black, Mr. Gray, and Mr. White are fighting in a truel. They each get a gun and take turns shooting at each other until only one person is left. Mr. Black, who hits his shot 1/3 of the time, gets to shoot first. Mr. Gray, who hits his shot 2/3 of the time, gets to shoot next, assuming he is still alive. Mr. White, who hits his shot all the time, shoots next, assuming he is also alive. The cycle repeats. If you are Mr. Black, where should you shoot first for the highest chance of survival? |

If black shoots gray. It's a 1/3 hell hit. If he misses he has a 2/3 chance gray will take him out, if he shoots at him and not white, if gray misses white then white will wipe out gray or black..he can't miss, so let's say white takes out gray, black has a 1/3 chance to hit white and survive. |

Apparently this is the answer
He should shoot at the ground.
If Mr. Black shoots the ground, it is Mr. Gray's turn. Mr. Gray would rather shoot at Mr. White than Mr. Black, because he is better. If Mr. Gray kills Mr. White, it is just Mr. Black and Mr. Gray left, giving Mr. Black a fair chance of winning. If Mr. Gray does not kill Mr. White, it is Mr. White's turn. He would rather shoot at Mr. Gray and will definitely kill him. Even though it is now Mr. Black against Mr. White, Mr. Black has a better chance of winning than before.

How about this one
Outside a room there are three light switches. One of switch is connected to a light bulb inside the room.
Each of the three switches can be either 'ON' or 'OFF'.
You are allowed to set each switch the way you want it and then enter the room(note: you can enter the room only once)
Your task is to then determine which switch controls the bulb ?? |

Right. So 1 in 3 of hitting gray, 1 in 2 chance gray will shoot at him, 2 in 3 that gray will kill him... Fuck me I wish I knew how to add probabilities together. |

Flick the first switch on for about 10min, and then switch on the second switch and then enter the room. If the bulb is on. then the second switch is the answer.
If the bulb is off and on touching bulb its warm, then the 1st switch is the answer.
If the bulb is off and the bulb is normal, then the 3rd bulb is the answer. |

Turn the breaker off at the consumer unit and rhen unscrew the switchplate to expose the wiring. One of the switches will be a strapper cable to upstairs and another will be a strapper to another light somewhere else. Strapper cables have three wires and an earth whereas switch cables are standard twin and earth. The switch with the twin and earth will be the one you want so set it to be on then screw everything up again, flick the circuit breaker back on and enter the room. |
