"Tainted love-Soft cell."

Great call and would get my vote for best interpretation of a song. As the Gloria Jones original was my springboard to a 40+ year devotion to Northern and Rare 60s soul, I prefer this.

My entry would be The Communards’ Don’t leave me this way. Almost impossible to top the original - I think they did.

I prefer Whitney Houston's

"I'll always love you"

It sold more than the original and Dolly Parton is happy for the royalties. Parton has said she is impressed by Houston's version. I find Parton's more sincere but a bit ploddy rhythmically.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...

...I don't agree with that as a blanket statement BUT my choice to mention here does happen to be a Dylan cover

I was going to suggest Manfred Mann's version of "The Mighty Quinn".

Certainly agree with Cash's "Hurt", too. I still remember that, after first hearing that, my world had shifted on its axis, just a little.

Glad to see the hate for Disturbed here! There version of TSOS is trying much too hard to be cool and interesting, it grates on me and isnt a patch on the original S&G tune.

Yes and no, like with a lot of covers it depends on the mood and vibe. It's a good cover, fairly equal on all levels but it's an entirely different mood to the original. I could gladly listen to either version but it's very much down to my head space at the time to which I prefer.

Another Joe Cocker contribution, this time a track that was originally performed by a band called The Box Tops, and they do it well but Joe’s rendition takes it to another level. Particularly the performance from a live set at The Fillmore East with Leon Russel on piano, how anyone clearly that spaced out can play that good.

Born to run-FGTH 100% improvement on Springsteen's version

Love will tear us apart-Paul Young

Crying-Don McLean, much better than Roy Orbison's

Midnight at the oasis-Brand new heavies, Maria Muldaur's version was good, but prefer the former...

So did Miley Cyrus. Not gonna lie, I bloody love her.

She also covered Wildflowers by Tom Petty - one of my all time fave singers - and she nailed it

Can't say I ever heard it. But as I'm really not a fan of the Beatles (or her, for that matter) there's probably no danger of it

Although he himself is an abusive knob, Marilyn Manson's covers of Tainted Love, Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This and Stripped are all better than the originals, and I don't say that lightly.

"Tainted love-Soft cell.

Great call and would get my vote for best interpretation of a song. As the Gloria Jones original was my springboard to a 40+ year devotion to Northern and Rare 60s soul, I prefer this.

My entry would be The Communards’ Don’t leave me this way. Almost impossible to top the original - I think they did."

Although I loved the original Blue Notes version. The Communards version is one off the few songs that has me reaching to change radio stations the instant it starts.
