Oh I see, yeah no, we live in a concrete jungle with only electric, the posh bit of the road is allowed gas but mod cons haven't made its way down the end of the road yet lol |

I have a tiny house. Two-up, two-down, town house. I haven’t had the heating on for a few months, now. I use gas to cook. My gas bill is still a fortune. That standing charge is a killer.
Also, when the price of fuel went down, why didn’t the standing charge go down too? |

I've got a metre. Haven't topped up in a while as I haven't been using much. Got two letters from British gas this week asking if "I'm ok" because its been a while, like we're old mates. Bruv, cost of living crisis. I've been wearing jumpers and watching the neighbours TV through the window innit. |

Mine is so expensive , Just my daughter and her boyfriend in a 3 bed detached it’s costs me over 300 a month in winter down to about 200 a month in summer (gas & elec). In Dubai my gas is less than £50 a year and electricity and water combined with municipality & ice/air-con chiller is around £45 a month in total. |

"I pay £77 all year round & am just still in credit when I’ve stopped using the radiators after winterthat’s for gas & electric "
How do you get that so cheap?
At one point about 18 months ago, my gas and electric was over 700 quid a month.
I've got it down to about 200 now. |

"We're in a second floor flat and well insulates so we rarely have the heating on... I think our gas bill is around £40 per month"
Ah yes.
My friend said that he rarely had to put the heating on even in the winter, in a similar way in his apartment.
Had a heart attack like you, when I told him what I pay. |

£58 estimated(and yet to pay.)
(Live in a fairly modern insulated 3rd floor flat, but very rarely there, as I work away a lot.)
Still scratching my head over a - £178 - estimated electricity bill from last quarter. |

I don't live in a castle but I was also paying almost £700pm for gas and electricity
Managed to get it down to about £300. Still fucking hurts though! |

I think it's about standard for a detached building unfortunately, it's probably my biggest expense
Slowly exploring the rabbit hole of off grid solutions.. |

but you do have a delivery charge and you also need to purchase a tank every so often.
there is plans to enforce the enviroment protection around your tank if you dont have it you will have to fit one. |

"We pay £100 per month still owe £900 from winter. No cavity walls no double glazing. A long term gas leak has finally been found and fixed so may become manageable "
no cavity walls but do have d glazing fitted
refused a tariff only allowed normal tariff 400+ a quarter
that standared charge should be half what it is. |

not much on the off grid solutions that can be picked.
if you went the old tank way heat water up and supply that for heating
you can go down the sand store way ( sand battery)
you can go down the rocket stove way to heat water a normal wood boiler chews through wood so does a downdraft boiler
5 logs for both of them compared to the rocket stove system that just uses 1 log
i will admit id probably keep the gas supply just for oven and hotplate
yes i could fit the composite insulation to the walls but if theres a fire you will loose your home
composite insulation isnt eco friendly and its toxic if set a fire
