the middle

But you don’t. What is something most people seem to know how to do, but you don’t?

Where I live there is a big ice rink and it’s almost always full of people gliding around with ease. I go there for a drink but have no idea how to skate

"Drive. I can't be arsed."

Neither can I, but then everyone around me, even those who can drive and have licenses somehow think it's my job.

Driving in Manchester is like having teeth removed without anaesthetic.

I had the audacity. Audacity! To choose to live in a place with a lot of public transport and enough options that I genuinely *need* a car or similar once a year or less. Paying for a cab at that frequency: why in god's name would I have a car?

"Do buttons up on duvet covers without breaking down in a pile of snot, tears, and impotent rage."

I introduced a flat sheet between me and my duvet, so I can change the duvet cover less often.

I get a nice sea breeze through the window, so change the cover a lot anyway to benefit from all the ambient freshness.

I just buy zipped or popper duvet covers now.

But it was a painful lesson x

I appreciate the sentiment and the day my dream of not needing a car is achieved it'll be sold and I'll move to Peru faster than you can say marmalade sandwiches.

Until then, well today would have cost £100+ in Uber fees and have been completely impossible by public transport. So unfortunately until then - I must suck it up.

Manchester isn't the worst, but it's hardly Amsterdam when it comes to public transport, and that city has a lot more engineering challenges to make their infrastructure tick the way it does. The UK needs to get it's act together and get high quality mass transit in place, not just fines and congestion charges that seem to disappear into the ether.

Oh agreed. It's a luxury most people can't afford, and they end up paying far more for not investing in that luxury. I knew I didn't drive, and organised my life accordingly. Because I could choose to move somewhere with exceptional public transport links, it's not a thing I have to think about very often. The fact that so many people don't have that choice is a failure of government.

Yeah, just how I remembered it, absolutely hated it, there he was off gliding around like blades of glory and there is me clinging on for dear life on the edge, I did get a seal to help me but wasn't a good look lol

So glad we didn't fork out for it
