if a man asked me out on a date, i would expect him to pay, but not on future dates. The one that asks should pay for the first date.

If it was just for drinks then take it in turns

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Why do you think that's a North/South divide?

I generally pay my own way but over this last year I have met a couple of men who are genuinely insulted if I try and pay half.

I'm stuck right in the middle of the country and don't believe there is a divide.

I'm very independent and have always paid my way, until my two most recent gentlemen have been quite verbally upset if I even try to get my purse out, although I do insist on paying my own entrance fee to Chams, but I've learned to let them buy the coffee .. lol

I don't split everything half and half im not that petty that i work out to the penny whats half

I have a few times been to clubs with guys and they have paid in and i have picked up the bar tab at the end of the night, or i have been to clubs with guys and we have got a room for after, if they book and pay for the room i will pay us into the club, i met a guy a couple of weeks ago and he paid for the room, we are meeting again tomorrow so i have booked the room this time, i may not always pay smack bang on half for the night but i always make the gesture to pay something and split it best i can without getting the calculator out lol

I mostly meet at my home. They are fed, played with in very nice surroundings, use of facilities and toiletries, drink before leaving if they wish.

They can run to a couple of cappuccinos!

If I took a woman out on a first date and ended up paying for literally everything I'd think she was a freeloader and there wouldn't be a second date. This is the 21st Century after all and women are equal citizens aren't they?

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Ladies, if you want equality be prepared to pay for it. It might well be the case these days that the woman is earning equal to or more than the man. Why should she not put her hand in her pocket?

"i pay for everything

Why do you do that?"

i just do, modern woman, dont want to feel like im going to owe a man anything..

also because i was in receipt of benefits and not working didn't want it to come across like i was dependent on a man for anything.

previous relationships have taught me to be less reluctant to buy everything because it does get rather costly.. so from now on i will split fairly the costing of things and wont be taken for a mug

That's generally how I like to do it when going to a club. I tend to do the driving and pay the bar bill... they can pay to get in the club.

If someone wants to pin it down to the penny they can make their own fucking way there and pay entry as a single.

I dont earn megabucks but one of my hotel meets I did offer to pay towards it but he said no. Bought me a drink too. I always offer and have bought coffee for a guy I was seeing but had to force him to let me do that. Hes a proper gentleman, depends on hotel really and if its right time of month re payday then I would pay now and again or pay half. But not anticipating too many hotel meets, guy I just met has nice comfy bed in house

they were separate points. Ive seen people make reference to 'gentleman' and how thats acceptable for a man to foot the bill but personally i see that as something from the past and that in a modern world and equality that it can be seen that women stand forward and become to the forefront and pay for things.

My point regarding benefits was that i didnt want to be taken pitty on that i wasnt earning money of my own and that i couldnt afford to pay for little luxurys . Several times in the past id been told 'save your money and spend it on your child' ... personally i found that really belittling and that i could budget and stand on my own two feet. Ok so i never earned the money (now i do) but i had accounted for it from my weekly budget

The north south divide seems to exist in peoples minds for sure. Manys the time I've been referred to as a southern softie and I'm not sure why. It seems a shame that anyone might think that whether a woman pays her own way is dependent on where she was born.

I actually met a guy who did that, at the end of the night he worked out how many drink I had had so he knew how much money he needed to ask for towards my share of the bill, I take my own drink so I had only had 1 soft drink which came to a pound but he still asked me for that pound, I was more than happy to pay half into the club till he did that but after he sat there infront of people asking what I had had to drink, whioh I found quite embarrassing I gave him a fiver towards entry and said that's how much it would have cost me to get in alone and its all hes having

I always pay my way on both dates and meets as I don't want to be made to feel in any way indebted.

That said, I have some friends (not sexual) who have a lot more money than me and so generally pay for more when we go out. I also have other friends who have less than me, so always ensure that I pay more when with them.

Here's how it is in my world. I'd allways be happy to and expect to pay for a first date. It's the traditional way. Even if the lady wants to go Dutch I would decline as much as possible until I either get my way and pay the bill, or I sense that she may be offended by me not accepting her offer. It's just the way it is, and probably should be

I have a friend in Liverpool whom i get to play with as often as we can get together (up there for the national weekend as it goes) He is always taking the micky out off what he calls the north/south divide and always seems to think that we are much better off down here, lucky for him that i know what sort of sense of humor he has . Mmmmm and those who think there is, it is all in the head !!

Getting back to paying, i always pay half of the total bill from dinner to hotel to club. But if I meet at a hotel it has normally already been paid and dealt with and insist that it is on them, who am i to argue.

thing is it depends what people mean by a date, as we are speaking on a swingers site I assumed people was referring to meets, where I would always pay my way, but if it was going out with someone I knew from outside of swinging and it was a none swinging 'date' I would view that very differently a meet of here and a date is not the same and I wouldn't treat the guys or the night the same

I haven't had a date for over twenty years so can't really remember.

When I was dating B I was a student and he was working so he mostly paid if we were eating out. I would always get my round in at the bar though.
