...writers who are very different to you?

A couple of years ago I realised that most of my books were by straight white men so I've been deliberately reading more women and writers of colour and also keeping an eye out for interesting books by LGBT writers.

Do you find you mostly read books by one particular gender/ethnicity/sexuality of writer and if so are they from the same groups as you?

I made this realisation a few years ago and have been making an effort to diversify my reading every since. I've found some ace authors and books.

I read books by men and women and I enjoy Mike gayle and Dorothy koonsom, who are both black authors that i found and liked.

I read horrors, thrillers and those feel good factor books too.

I'm happy to try and book if it jumps out at me, bar things like period dramas or overly romantic schizzle like mills & boon.
