"But what does the pineapple mean.?"
It means you've progressed from the cucumber and want to try something bigger, harder and more exotic ,but you have to insert it upside down so the leaves can aid extraction |

Nothing. You're in Glasgow, not America.

Does anyone know why the pineapple was first used as a sign for swingers though? Is it because in the 70s it was the most exotic fruit available? Why not a dragon fruit? A lychee? *thinking emoji

Apparently the pineapple has been a symbol of hospitality and friendship throughout the ages and so it was adopted by the scene in America. A pineapple places on the porch or by the mailbox signifies a party is happening. An upside down pineapple signifies someone looking for a party....used to be in shopping carts etc but more recently it has been used a lot on cruise ships.
