Paella or something different? "
It wasn't paella but I can't remember what it was.
We had rabbit a lot when I was growing up. I don't cook it at home though |

"As in fluffy bunny rabbit?
Stop the guilt trip
I’m sorry!! Noooo x"
it's ok, you will like. Rabbit meat tastes almost like chicken, almost sweet with a gamey taste. High in vitamins low on cholesteral |

I don't think it's like chicken at all. Really game-y. Only ever had it in a pie (which I was told included only animals with 4 legs). This was when I was a child. I was pretty horrified as an 11 yr old.
Mystery meat |

"We had it when I was very young, as it was either cheap or caught for free.
It will be a challenge for you anyway. Start with boiled eggs first
I didn't cook when I was 4 years old "

"Love it…. Sadly increased in price over the years but occasionally get some from local farmers
and not easy to find"
Ask your butcher and if they don't have one, they will get you some.
Ive got a pet rabbit. Not eaten any in about 10 years. It is tasty, though |

I might stick a nice recipe on the recipes thread. Obviously a good authentic paella includes rabbit but I like the various stews you get in Spai, Greece or Portugal. Simply fried and flambéed in wine is delicious |

I forgot the rabbit au vin. All you do is substitute the traffitional coq with rabbit. Justvas lovely if not better |

"When was the last time you had any? "
32 years ago, staying with a french family on school exchange. We was having a lovely 'meat' stew then the dad pulls out the rabbits skull from the casserole pot on the table. I just went 'huh, well that answers the question, quoi pour le dîner?. At least it wasn't horse. |

"Used to eat it all the time as a kid. My Dad used to shoot them.
As an adult was some kind of starter it was lovely
We need a campaign to bring back the rabbit on the shelves "
Definitely if it's wild rabbit, much preferable to some of the meat on the shelves. |

When my dad was growing up during WW2, he had the honour of looking after the classes pet rabbit ??, which mysteriously escaped and was never seen again. His mum that winter was sporting a new fur hat and gloves. |

Apparently one of tge reasons rabbit meat is not that popular in UK is it's the association with the hard times of WW2 |

I had it earlier in the year, in a terrine. It’s annoying me that I can’t remember where.
My ex husband used to do some shooting in the grounds of his work place, bought a rabbit home, skinned it, came through to proudly to tell me, went back to the kitchen and our cat had liberated it and run up the garden with it. I was secretly relieved as he could cock up cooking pasta |

Not had it since my dad was alive, when he was we had it regular and ate it a lot growing up, rabbit roasted with home made pie crust and gravy was a staple we loved. Every one he swore he shot in the head and you would still nearly smash your teeth on a pellet though |
