Sgt Major Williams aka Windsor Davis would not be able to call any of his platoon p o o f s, he'd have to call them lovely boys instead.....

"Game show hosts are a lot less “handsy” on attractive female contestants these days aren’t they?
Political Correctness gone mad, I tell you!"
Not just hosts, I watched an old episode of Catchphrase and a male contestant kept patting or putting his arm around the female contestant whenever she got an answer right.
Hands off man! |

Political Correctness gone mad, I tell you!" Ben Sheppard still upholds this tradition on Tipping Point tho |

"Till death do us part !!
Definitely wouldn't be allowed today but was still funny "
It is still played on some minor channels. It was a groundbreaking programme that was instrumental in breaking down the barriers of class, mysogeny, race and homosexuality. |

Definitely. It was using humour to break down barriers, show bigots up for the idiots they are, although the language was a bit questionable.
I remember seeing Warren Mitchell (played Alf Garnet) being interviewed on Parkinson, or something similar, and he said he was out walking and a guy yelled across to him " Good on yer Alf, get them c@@ns out!" Warren said to the interviewer that the guy had completely missed the point of the program, that Alf was the figure of fun and showed bigots as ignorant buffoons

"Little Britain. No way that is allowed today, wasn't that long ago when it was on TV "
Why not? Little Britain did not parody people who were not conventionally "normal", it saught to make a parody of the people who couldn't get their heads around being different |

"What other tv shows or comedies would not be allowed on TV now that we watched I'm the 70s and 80s and 90s."
Easier to list the ones that would be allowed, like The Good Life, Butterflies, and similar. Basically the ones that had no "coloureds" or gays to take the piss out of or had no attractive women to leer over. |

"I always loved the the Goodness Gracious me ‘Going for an English’ sketch. Would they get away with it these days or would the snow flakes find that offensive too"
Nah it'd be fine as it's taking the piss out of white people. But saying that it's one of the best comedy sketches of all time.

"You can watch pre woke comedy on That's TV channel. They have a content warning but is nice to watch programs that would not be acceptable now."
Thanks I was not aware of this channel. Is it on virgin or sky's basic package |

"Love Thy Neighbour... Great classic comedy when people still knew it was tongue in cheek ....
"
Not when you're a black kid going school the following day and being called the same names heard on television the previous evening.
22 minutes of racist abuse and then the black man turns the tables in the last two minutes. Yep, a great classic, from a white person's perspective.
Don't get me wrong, our household loved it at the time, but it was a few years before we looked back and saw it for what it was. |
