This is a silly question. Pasties are very popular in Michigan's upper peninsula because of the minors coming to work in the copper mines.
So the question is do you eat it with gravy, ketchup, or plain (no gravy/ketchup)? Most here like it with gravy or plain and think ketchup is blasphemy  |

As someone who lives in Cornwall,
the correct way a pasty should be simply eaten directly from the bag, as it was invented to be a meal to enjoy quickly on the go without the need for utensils.
Anything else is just plain wrong “Me ‘ansome”
Remember also it’s Jam first….. no debate, to do anything else “makes ee a bleeds emmet”

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong !!!!!
The scone is always served warm so the jam goes on first to stop the cream from melting….
That way the clotted cream can stick to the scone without running off and making a right old mess of your chin. You’ll learn your lesson if you do it the Devon way.
It’s called science…..

I have Devonshire pasties as they are the original and best. No need to add anything when it's so tease in the first place.
Cornish pasties are poor imitation. So people need to add flavour. |

It's just snobbery, a few years ago I did an introduction to whisky tasting course and we learnt about the correct water to whisky ratios and so on...
However I said that surely the way to drink it is how you enjoy it, the guy running course said"exactly"
If I like a pasty with ketchup or brown or even chilli jam then that's how me going to eat it up nom nom NOM !
unless you are buying me said pasty then I'll eat it exactly how I want.
