By *ools and the brain OP   Couple 39 weeks ago

couple, us we him her.

I think it's the decade that probably gets overlooked at times but so absolutely amazing songs I think as a musical decade it's probably the one with the most variety so many genres and set up many more.

Disco to punk

Glam rock to funk

Heavy metal to ballads

Please make sure it's a 70's tune

Atomic, Blondie 1979

Problem is there's so many great songs from amazing artists.

In 40 year's time will people look back at this decade and go errmmmm it'll be a very short best of album.

My recollections of 70s songs are warped by the fact that my mum used to love the 70s disco stuff - a lot of my earliest memories are sitting in the car driving through the desert (where we used to live) listening to things like Daddy Cool or Staying Alive. Weird associations!

Whilst a cracking tune, House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals was about 6 years too early for the 70’s.

High Lighthouse!

Tricky one.

I started the decade in primary school and finished it in secondary. So a wide range of music and tastes within that period!

So can I pick one from either end?

The Cure - A Forest

How to choose?

I’m a complete Glam Rock girl.

It’s got to be David Bowie’s Starman. From the first time I saw him performing this on TOTP it started my life long love of his music.

In my head it's always been 1979. I think because I saw an interview with Robert Smith talking about recording it in '79.

But yes, March 1980, bugger.

In which case: SLF - Alternative Ulster
