And then in the thread itself post the most banal shite you can imagine. That will get people going. It's seems to work well. |

Out off the loop and probably not returning at all

Everyone has a right to an opinion on the subject matter that op started but what I am talking about is the people deliberately making fun of the subject matter for example someone posted a thread on HAH and instead of saying they opinion on the subject there are people making fun of the subject. This is not an isolated case SPH threads get the same and so on. |

Couldn't be arsed to run the numbers, but a cursory glance over the volume of threads just in the Lounge shows them quieter than the peak of lockdown, when let's face it many had sod all else to do bar spend time in here, but on average no different to any other time since 2009.
Sometimes it just 'seems' quieter.  |

There's an awful lot of the exact same posts happening day in day out - especially "help with profile" types who have already posted before.
Also there seems to be a lot of subjects started with the clear aim of picture collecting/fishing types.
Seems to be so much BS as well sometimes it's hard to actually treat a topic seriously. |

One of the problems with the forums is newbies and less established forummers get mostly ignored regardless of post content.
If one of the established forummers would have posted the same message I think they get more traction. This can lead to a less than positive experience for some users. |

That's true. I think it can be really difficult to reply to posts if you're an OP - personally I try and work down the thread but I'll end up busy or dickstracted and don't finish.
I think it's a shame that more people aren't acknowledged, sure I might not always know their sense of humour but it doesn't take much to not just reply to those who I'm good friends with.
I do wish that instead of people complaining (this isn't directed at the person whose post I'm replying to!), they try and be the change they want to see. Start threads. Be more proactive. Interact with more people. |

People complain about the forums being dead and are encouraged to be proactive and post more threads themselves.
Some do and get a little traction but many are put off by overly productive fabbers who fill the forums with multiple threads every day and it becomes a love-in.
I'm not shy about offering opinions and over the years I've started hundreds of threads but can't be arsed anymore because 90 percent of those threads have struggled to get more than 30 replies while more crowdpleasing forumites are lauded for being one trick ponies.
It is what it is and will never change but it's never surprising when people mention the clique word or roll their eyes at continuous flirting on what should be pretty serious topics. |

I find it laughable that some adults who consider themselves "liberated" cannot calmly discuss a subject, or at least agree to disagree. |

I enjoyed the forums when I first joined in 2009-2010
The forums have changed - dare I say they don't feel as inclusive these days
Maybe they weren't inclusive back then either, but I didn't see it because I was included
Maybe it's me that's changed?
I certainly had more time back then to 'waste' in here
I think they work for some people more than others - as with the site in general, women's posts or threads will normally garner more response than most mens
There is certainly more of a sisterhood than a brotherhood (that's an observation as opposed to a criticism)
I think, also, if you embrace the social and clubbing aspects of swinging, you will likely have more allies here too
Maybe had I stuck around, I may have different views
I dunno
I enjoy them
As long as you do too, that's all that matters |

People moan and bitch about the forums for whatever reason but yet still post, if you want to make them a more postive experience, then look at what you can do to aid that happening.
We can all focus on the percieved problems, what about the solution???
For me, if I don't put any any action in to that more postive experience I can't moan, as I'm part of the problem hey....

People often make fun of what they don't understand......It happens in every arena of life, if this happens then its up to us if we allow it to affect us or not....its the forums not to be taken seriously, when they are taken seriously that's when the drama occurs....
