So Fab has removed the message subject when sending messages. A bit of a strange decision this, considering many people use this as the first act of filtering people. Apparently it's to make messaging quicker and easier. Now some people only have to write "hey" once now instead of twice. Surely this isn't the real reason why Fab has removed it? |

"It's a conspiracy
I'm a yayer of the bigger avatars, and being able to read more of message without opening it though. "
Not sure I said anything about a conspiracy. Just a strange decision I think. I'm not for or against it, but people who use it as a filter might be against it.
What's this bigger avatar thing you mention? |

It takes a bit of getting used to and I would prefer the subject line to be back but guess now they have done it the powers that be will not role back.
I can't believe of all the things that members would like to change this was the highest one. I am guessing it was the easiest and cheapest thing they could do
What it has meant for us is that we have to open the message and actually read it which has led to a lot more people joining our block list. |

Everyone's profile pic is now showing as a little bigger. I get people talking about using it as a filter. But the main filter was someone just posting 'hi', or a word that is requested by folk in their profiles. Now you can see easily if their entire message is just hi, and the word thing always seemed a bit silly. I suspect the main issue is people rarely like change? Any update to anything regularly used on social media is often not recieved well. |

Ah yes, that's the reason. It makes it more likely someone will open a message. Nothing to do with making it easier to send one.
You're right too. All the things people would have preferred to change, they chose this instead. Oh well, makes no odds to me. |

A Fab friend and very active party planner has now left the site over this... It became impossible for him to organise events and invites/cancellation etc... Not a problem for low activity members... But for organisers it sounds like a nightmare. |

Genuinely didn't notice the avatar thing and tbh, I've not actually seen anyone complaining about the subject message. Just thought the reason why was a little lame.
Like I said in a previous reply to someone else, makes no odds to me really. Was just wondering is all. |

It's only been implemented since yesterday? Seems they hadn't tried to see how it would still work for very long? - plus it wouldn't make any difference? You'd literally just type 'event 9th June' at the start of the message, instead of in a header. Literally zero difference. |

There are currently a 'dozen' extant threads about this all over the forums. Lots of people have shared their misgivings about the changes. |

Yeah I've not been reading the forums in the last couple of days. |

"Just added my 2ps worth on to the feedback thread above. It’s crap and is making me read even LESS messages than I did before "
Devastated!
I always used the subject line to try and catch your attention (Big Mac used to work ), now I shall forever be relegated to floating around with the rest of the detritus in cyber space. |

From a personal perspective, once the dust has settled down, I think the changes have been overall positive for me. It is only a few days but I have seen a spike in activity almost as soon as the changes hit - make of that what you will. |

I suppose it makes the cut and paste process more efficient.
If that's what the majority of people do, as many threads suggest, then it's arguably a democratically viable decision. Tyranny of the majority and all that.
What's next a FAF button? Pay to win?
First Brexit and now this, I don't know what the world is coming to. |
