Tom has noticed that a tub of ice cream is relatively cheap at his local Waitrose but extortionate from ice cream vans. Now we know that a family at the seaside having ice cream is as English as it gets. Up there with cricket and bowls. But what can be done for the poorer families who cannot afford their seaside treat. Should ice cream be subsidised for the poor or maybe dedicated ice cream vans at the seaside for the poor maybe in a different colour or separate queues for them. Toms view. No young child should forgo an ice cream at the seaside... Toms motto. See it, Say it, Sort it |

Now and again ill get a cone from the sea front but when my kids were small, as there was 5 of us, we would very often just go and get a box from the supermarket (when they were smaller and ended up on the floor, it didn't seem like such a waste lol) |

Worked in a Kwik Save as a teenager. Chip shop next door to us sold 99s for £1.20. They would come into us and just buy the massive tubs we sold. |

Ice cream vans are expensive because they cost about £70,000 or more to buy and get kitted out, they only sell their stock only 5 months of the year.
That’s a lot of £3 month ice creams to pay back the £70,000 and make some money. |
