I (Clyde) like to read but only if I'm learning something...currently reading The photographers eye. I struggle to get into novels so gave up trying years ago.
What do you prefer, a good novel or something educational ? |

fact for me always.
I find it entertaining as well as educational.
I seldom see the point in fictional tomes.
Mind you I like to escape into a good fictional film.... just seem to hate it in writing. |

Novels mainly, sometimes biographies, for enjoyment. Work time is educational reading time for me, when I get home I want my brain to switch off.
Unless of course I want to learn something. Ive started a new obsession with growing tomatoes and hanging baskets and I've downloaded a book to get info about this. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Have got around 2000 read tho so on the way lol

Both fiction and fact, although prefer fact in physical books so I can highlight and annotate

Amy - Fiction as she loves fantasy/horror stories. For her it's an escape from everyday life and she's not into autobiographies or historical books.
Vincent - Fact every time as can't stand fiction and see no personal gain from reading it. x |

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
A combination - I tend to like to read and re-read my Pratchetts before bed. But if I really want a good read it is fictional - usually some kind of social/political text or history. |

Some of the books that have got me thinking the most have been fiction because they often introduce aspects I'd never otherwise give thought to. (That doesn't include the filth of course..) |

Both. I read almost anything. I'm lucky enough to speed read so I can read stuff really fast so can read a book in a few days. I usually have 3 or 4 on the go at once. |

My dad was a draughtsman for most of his working life - an old style one with big sheets of paper, pencils and protractors and compasses.
When he retired from full time work at 65 he went back to college and learned CAD.
NEVER too late to add to your knowledge and experience |

Hmm it's a tricky one I've read quite a few novels, Stephen King's IT, Harry Potter Books & Raymond E Fiest's The Magician all were great.
But reading educational things if I can put them into practice I really enjoy as well.
Depends if i'm feeling creative or just want to get lost in a fantasy novel and let my mind wander |
