Do you endulge? Moderately or would you call yourself an addict?

I don't watch it much maybe twice a week personally... but if I had a girlfriend I don't think I'd bother at all.

Whats interesting is there are studies showing it shrinks your brain and ruins its plasticity

It's a very interesting topic. I think the use of porn and when it becomes an addiction can fall on the side of a definite mental health ailment. I am not saying those with mental health ailments are addicted to porn but I think the over indulging of it gives that stimulus that brain and body need therefore it can be over used after all an addiction to porn is an addiction to masterbation is it not?

I have seen some in the position fall away from partners and go into their own bubble. It's a very complex issues with many refusing to even talk about the issues so good topic raise!

Sex stunts your growth, addiction, affects the hormones ...but it is bloody good when you have it. Too much of a good thing in moderation ..if lots of us can get it.

I think its a problem for youth as well I know we had magazines but that is a bit different. I imagine a lot of youth having distorted views on relationships among other things

I agree it wasn't as bad as porn videos.

I would agree with this, in many ways it's also gives younger men a false pretense about how big their cocks should be this creating body image issues.

Porn is so freely available now, what once was taboo can be considered mainstream and I think with any fantasies over time they becomes pushed and the lines blurred.

the problem is rather than just view it as entertainment as you would say a action movie or a horror alot of men view bit as real and thats where the problem starts when they think normal sex should be the same...

Thing with magazine is it's left up to the imagination when having a wank that's not to say people didn't consume it too much let's be honest it's hard for men to talk about it now never mind back then.

Because it did affect yourself does not mean it didn't affect no one else.

I spend more time on here than I do watching porn, or chatting on Skype to various people I’ve met. I like some kind of interpersonal interaction - porn doesn’t interest me so much.

I also see a lot of youth hating on women I think it will enhance a type of division where women are viewed as if they should not as sexually free as they are otherwise they are a slut. Like the videos they watch calling women sluts or whores.

Not to mention the decrease in relationship length and people cheating more frequently

I think in many ways this is true but I think it opens up bigger questions about Society and it's direction.

Like you say less longer lasting relationships, I feel the decrease in religious organisations and their control and those morals do have a hand in what was once seen as pure and valued is an element to it. I am an atheist but wether we like it or not most morals in the west are guided be some sort of mainstream religion but that is dying out. Even how we socialise and interact with others has changed dramatically in 30 years

Probably lost one or two billion brain cells by now watching porn….

It’s certainly better entertainment than Love Island or Strictly

Apparently these days everyone needs a six inch cock.

Is it bad that this is a bit of a kink of mine? I’d love to be sent so much porn by a dom that I become desensitised to it and unable to get hard/cum for my wife

I think porn and getting yourself off is healthy, even in a relationship as long as it doesn’t ruin expectations!

If anything have benefited from taking inspiration or stealing moves

Are there? I searched for this and it led me to a nice WIRED article from 10 years ago debunking this myth.

"Is It Really True That Watching Porn Will Shrink Your Brain?"

Looks like a classic case of the #1 sin of science journalism - correlation is not causation.

Ignoring the brain damage bit, I'll say that some actresses (I prefer woman only videos) are extremely good at their craft - comparing them to people IRL would be unfair - the same as doing so with non-porn actresses really.

I think porn is damaging

1) unrealistic expectations around bodies and image

2) unrealistic expectations around sex

3) a lot of sexual violence which most women won’t like

4) it’s too accessible and means that people may just wank off rather than seeking out real people OR excessive use can ruin your relationship

Occasional use is fine

Agree

It's putting unrealistic expectations on what a healthy "normal" sexual relationship looks like ... lots of pressure around anal sex and choking ... things which were never expected when I was younger and having sex.

Also excessive wanking due to porn addiction can create problems in being able to climax with a partner.

I think it gives many an unrealistic expectation of reality & the people who copy what they see thinking you'll like it just need to stop watching.
