Each ticket costs USD 75,000

The theme was Garden of Time inspired by J G Ballard’s short story.

Would appreciate readers comments on the fashion at Met Gala 2024.

I know an elegant woman / smart guy or a sexy dress / smart clothes , when I see one.

I’m still trying hard to appreciate Met 2024 fashion in general.

A bikini contest, lingerie or simple nudist gathering is more attractive and elegant and would cost a thousand times less.

But then, I’m not sophisticated to understand these things.

Your thoughts please.

somewhere

The MET gala is a chance for designers to go wild with their designs, show off their art in the most flamboyant, ridiculous way, I saw one person having to be carried to move in her dress for a start.

I have to say, I can't remember if it was last year or the year before, when Blake Lively wore a 2 in 1 dress, that was a "wow" moment because she didn't look ridiculous in either dress as some of (well most) are ridiculous in my opinion but then I prefer leggings and a hoodie over proper fashion lol x

I think it was Cardi B who needed to be carried.

Anyway. It’s spectacle. And fashion designers pushing their technical limits. The fashion version of Formula 1 I guess. Personally I love seeing the ladies in their looks.

I thought it was great. I love to see all the designs, the theatre of it all.

I do think some of the people take themselves a bit too seriously and some are a little pompous but in the dreary, sad world we currently inhabit a little fantasy goes a long way

I met Gala once.

It was surprisingly down to earth and VERY funny.

I hope the woman who had to be carried up the steps didn't need the loo while she was there

The cost is mind boggling but people seem willing to pay it.

It allows people to express their creativity and I guess it's not hurting anyone (except maybe some painful boning in the outfits )

Where's the harm?

Pointless overindulgence.

Not Met Gala.

But Versace - Liz Hurley and the Safety Pin dress. That was creative and classy.

I usually enjoy the spectacle of it even though I don't know who half the people are.

This year though the twitter posts were interspersed with photos from Palestine and it felt like some horrific dystopian nightmare. I struggled to process and had to step away from the socials for a bit.

"I do like a Gala pie "

I love gala pie even while I acknowledge it's a grim thing. Tasty though
