I have been art modelling for a while and fancy getting back to the other side of the camera but I haven’t bought a new camera for years so out of touch with what is on the market.
Anyone got any advice on what I should look for in a first modern camera to get me started with portrait style stuff? |

I really depends on your budget.
A half decent DSLR and a 50mm 1.4 lens on it is a magic combination for portraiture.
For a bit more flexibility, go for a 24-70mm 2.8, you’ve got zoom and still have a wide enough aperture for some nice depth of field. |

"Thanks. The last SLR I bought was film so never bought a digital one. I am making an assumption that the old approach of lens being the primary thing that matters still applies etc. "
Kinda……. I’ve seen amazing results with cheap lenses, so I guess it’s down to the person behind the camera.
I’m not the best photographer out there, and all the expensive lenses I buy won’t change that. I’ll get better looking crap photo’s instead |
