Taken flowers into the hospital to cheer a neighbour up who has had a stroke, we was told to take them away by the receptionist, no flowers allowed
Made me pretty sad, was a beautiful bouquet, thought I was doing a good thing

Unfortunately this has been the case for a while for a variety of reasons. At least your gesture won't go unnoticed and good for you for being a thoughtful neighbour. Wishing your neighbour a speedy recovery. x |

The same thing happened when I visited my Nana in hospital last week. When asked, the nurse said it's because staphylococci can grow in the water. I presume that most people know not to drink vase water... |

I think it’s something to do with infection control. It’s been a rule for a while now.
It was a lovely gesture OP! Wishing your neighbour a speedy recovery |

This has been a rule for years! Staph and other infections are the reason plus frankly hcps & other staff have more important things to do than fAff looking after flowers, also staff and other patients may have allergies. |

"As an addendum best to take fruit (the cliched grapes are a cliche for a reason), jelly pots & drinks are also a good choice (hydration) but if they’re diabetic NOT lucozade or similar. "
Those are good ideas, thank you. I was sat trying to figure out what else I could take in

It’s to do with the illnesses the people may be suffering OP. Normally asthma / COPD type illnesses. Speaking from experience sadly. Its best not to take anything until you can ask what is allowed |
