Because sometimes that opens a dialogue where they will be asked for an explanation. Then when given and boundaries set the male still pursues and often gets nasty.

However, the OP himself has brought to my attention the fact that most ladies here are not polite. I am very disappointed.

Because it doesn’t take two seconds… it takes about 30 seconds, and if you reply when you aren’t interested then you can guarantee there will be a second message to say “no thanks” to… so whilst I would love to be polite to everyone, (and believe me I do make an effort to be polite if I truly think a guy has put in some effort with his message) it would become a full time job.
70-100 messages a day on average.

Most messages we receive are absolute horse shit and saying "no thanks" would require more effort from us than the sender put into their message in the first place. Besides, we've already said we're not looking for single me in our profile so they have their answer before they even write. |

I’ve seen the responses female friends get on here when they say a polite no thank you and it’s normally a load of grief and abuse.
Plus if you get 100 messages how on earth can you find time to reply to them all politely.

There have been many threads on this subject and my summary of the feedback I’ve seen from women and couples is as follows
1) yes it might only take a minute or two per message but multiply that by hundreds and it’s a lot of time that isn’t spent engaging with people that they are interested in.
2) frequently the people sending messages have not bothered to read their profile so why should they expect a reply.
3) There are people who react badly to a no thank you response and reply with abuse, so why risk it
4) There are people who take a no thanks as an invitation to bombard with more messages.Again why risk it.

Perhaps it is because the person sending the message hasn't read our profile and not worked out they are not what we are looking for. Sometimes we will reply, sometimes we won't.
What I can say with upmost certainty is that if we do reply to a poorly worded or ill considered email it will not be in the positive. It just depends on our mood and how sarcastic we want to get. Often it is better for us just not to reply in the first place. |

And most the subsequent replies are also polite
There are however a distinct set of men who
1) are abusive and whose fragile egos can't take rejection
2) keep messaging forgetting you've already said no thank you
OP also cinsider the message and does it warrant a response because they are frankly dull and uninspiring.

3) what you up to today/ this weekend?
4) free now?
And then you may not be what a lady is looking for ..... she doesn't owe you anything not even a response. |

It is often easier to do it that way. I’ve been polite and said I’m really sorry but you’re not for me. I get a message back asking why and what can they do to change so I’d be attracted to them etc.

I think you might find that there is a difference between the (remote) possibilty of obtaining free sex and the (certainty) of paying out lots of money to get double glazing or loft insulation done!
Not really sure the comparison works, other than that most people don't see the need to thank leafleters for junk mail.
However, Fab's advice to users has been well thought through so why doesn't everyone accept it?
What I do find curious is getting blocked by people who have winked etc within hours or less because I didn't reply virtually immediately.
Even in real life I I don't walk around glued to my email inbox. I'm from a different culture. |

No reply is a reply op & I state on my profile it means I'm not interested.
I use filters so I don't get that much mail, some women and couples get lots, so don't want to spend all evening replying no thanks to people.
Plus, as others said if you say no ta, some men don't take rejection well and you'll get abuse or more messages asking whats wrong with them. |

I don't reply to most messages. I've never blocked so some just keep messaging. I'm collecting them now, it's like a board game. My leader's slowed down, his position is under threat. Someone out the gates just last week is running so hard, he's my new favourite.
It's like Forest Gump and a pack of Forrest Gump runners. A bunch of fucking idiots running nowhere. They can stop and go home anytime they want, just read the profile.
Of course I am most gracious and this is just a minority group I've picked out here so I just let them run. Most gracious.
