Would you be annoyed…..
Jump to: Newest in thread
I had a social with a guy over a week ago seemed a really lovely guy went to a pub for a couple of hours and chatted non stop. Anyways he invited me over a couple of days later but on the day he went silent so I thought oh well, obviously we didn’t get on as well as I thought.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago I receive a parking ticket, I didn’t realise I had to put my reg in the machine. Anyways spoke to the pub they said if I could get proof of the transaction then I should be able to get the fine written off. Only problem is he bought the drinks on his card so I sent a polite message asking if he could send me a shot of the transaction so I can appeal, after waiting a good few hours he replied and said sure. But nothing, I’m not gonna chase again but why are people so shitty at times |

Ask again for a copy to prove you were customers, if nothing then unless they will accept a time and date you was in the pub nothing more you can do if he chooses not to send it over. |

"Did they mean the transaction for the parking ticket? "
Transaction of purchasing something in the pub I think, to prove she was a paying customer, therefore parking on their premises as a customer. |

No he didn’t help me he just went quiet again "
Oh, when you said he said sure, I misinterpreted that as he did send. My apologies |

Think I would be wary of sending the transaction details to someone.
but I would be nice and offer to contact the business on your behalf and try and get the ticket cancelled.
I would feel a bit miffed but as a driver it is your responsibility not theirs if you get a ticket. |

You’d only need a cropped screen shot of transaction not his account details.
Either way, it’s shitty to ignore you in both scenarios.
Surely you’re on the premises cctv for proof? |

Plus my bank app does not allow screenshots, so I actually wouldn't be able to provide it, thinking about it. |

Yeah that’s all I wanted was a snippet no one in their right mind would send bank details. |

Oh yeah I know it’s my fault but I only wanted a teeny bit of help. I mean they may not have accepted it anyways but it was worth a try. |

"Think about this from both points of view. Would anyone be happy to provide details of a bank transaction to someone they'd met only once via a swinging web site?"
Yes cause you don’t need to show your account details!
If you can help someone out, be a good citizen regardless of the situation |

If it weren’t showing my actual bank details I would tbh but maybe others are more cautious I guess |

It's poor form, as the parking operators are modern day scum/highway robbery.
I'd potentially chat with the pub, to see if they seem amenable to helping in any way.
Despite his lack of interest, I'd still request a discussion, so that he understands what you're requesting. He might mistakenly think you're after his purchasing card data to scam him. I'd probably resend the charge demand notice.
It's a lot of money and you in good faith both met there. |

"So much drama. I’d just pay the ticket and learn the lesson. Nothing to do with the guy, honestly."
Really? I didn’t dramatise it just asked what people thought. Forums are for alsorts so I thought! And of course I’ll pay it I have no choice. |

This.
And yes, bank apps don't allow screenshots but you can easily print a statement.
No confidentiality issues. |

It's life and it's Fab, OP. I'm sorry to hear that you received a parking ticket and I would feel equally miffed and resentful. There are ways to obfuscate a credit card receipt or statement but I would also be hesitant to send a copy. It's not about being a good citizen or not. Perhaps he simply wishes to sever all ties with you for some unfathomable reason.
If it was me I would pay the fine - begrudgingly - but pay it nevertheless.
Also sorry to hear about your not-so-positive outcome but people are allowed to change their minds on here, to ghost or go into 'radio silence' mode. It happens to everyone. Even men have the right to exercise their prerogative (If your thread had been written by a man describing his experiences the responses here would have been less than favourable compared to a woman). Don't pester him; leave him be, move onto someone more amenable and agreeable.
Let's hope your next encounter is a p+sitive one! |

Pubs which work in league with parking companies in this sort of way need shaming and boycotting.
What happens if you paid cash, as a matter of interest?
The least the bar staff could do is mention the risk to customers at the time of their initial purchase.
I would be inclined to go into the pub at a quiet time, with the correspondence in your hand and have a word with them about the concept of good customer relations.
I hope it is not the parking firm which is notorious for not giving any leeway. |

Can you just contact them and say you were mistaken the other party paid in cash so you've not got a record of it?
It's a long shot...but if it's a cash business it's believable... especially to save 60notes |

Oh yeah the not meeting again wasn’t an issue we’re all entitled to change our mind, I have before yet probably handled it better tbf, but I weren’t annoyed over that.
I’ll begrudgingly pay the ticket because I have to. Lesson learnt, must check parking fees next time I’m out. |

I treat people how I like to be treated and ignoring you is not on. All he has to say is he cannot help you rather than radio silence.
As for the ticket, it'll be the managers discretion.
My elderly dad only popped into a wetherspoons to use their toilet. He waited to be served to ask where they were, then after being told they were upstairs,he had to wait for the key for the disabled toilets to be returned. By the time he used the toilet, took key back to bar and walked back to car, it was 16 minutes.
After he got a ticket through the post, I called the pub for him, explained and manager said he'd get it quashed.
No requirement of proof of presence. A proper manager who sorted it out. |

If on private land it's not a fine it's an invoice
from a private parking company for use of the land.can fight them never goes to court google it. only council or police can issue a fine which has to be paid. |

Looks like it's all worked out well for you OP. As my nan used to say, if I fell off the roof of Lewis's. I'd land in a brand new suit. |

i couldnt easily print a statement to be fair, i dont have a working printer at home.
i had a fine from a meet that i just paid - and i had a fine at another and the guy kindly paid as he said he had mis informed me on what to put in for the ticket (i was having a ditzy moment)
both were ok - obviously someone else paying is better, but it happens.
I also know a guy i chat to , we met and he got a ticket for going over the parking hours - well i never knew, prehaps i need to talk less |

You have to pay to view the CCTV and you have to apply under GDPR laws (Data protection Act ) sorry to be boring about it but it's the law in Public Space Surveillance anyway hope you get it sorted . |

watch the time limit on it - i would think the £60 would only hold if you pay within a set period of days and then it rises to £100 - |

I'd still be cautious in all honesty. I wouldn't necessarily want a stranger know what I spent my money on. Or identify where I worked for example.
And would a parking fine company really accept one line off a bank statement as proof? I highly doubt it the way they operate. |

"Didn't the machine prompt you to put your registration in?
Have you got a record of your transaction paying for parking?
Was it an app based parking system or pay at the machine?
"
Am guessing it's one of those screens inside the pub where you put your registration in. If you don't see the screen or realise they have one, they are easily missed tbh. |

It socks being ghosted, I know, and to also get a parking fine double socks.
This sounds like a lose all round.
His loss for not seeing you again.
Your financial loss, and finally, the pubs loss of your business in the future.
I don't think there's anything you can do except put it down to experience.
Sending big commissary hugs your way. |

I wouldn’t be annoyed with anyone but myself. Lots of pubs have a screen to enter your reg these days. It’s not his fault you earned yourself a ticket like everyone else who receives a ticket there. I wouldn’t give a stranger anything private about me, not even a receipt, there are too many people around these days especially on fab who want to fuck guys over and hold them to ransom over what might seem like innocent personal info. I’d put it down to being a lesson learned the hard way |
