On the continent you can order a small carafe of wine which tends to be 0.5 litres or half a litre, or 500ml.
A pint is 568ml.
Is this a badge of honor that the English can drink more than the Continentals |

On the contrary, a pint of wine was his preferred size apparently.
However, Churchill was very much in favour of a united Europe, believing it would bring peace.
Personally, I’d like a a bottle about that size but don’t care if it’s a pint or half a litre. |

Europe never stopped things from being sold in imperial measures, they just insisted on metric measures being shown too. In reallity our mix of imperial and metric measures is quite eclectic.
