"Strongly disagree.
Really good butter and toasted over an open fire or under a grill. Slightly cooled but not too much. Not undercooked, hate a pale soggy anaemic looking thing.
"
This is the correct answer (not just golden but slightly crunchy in too though)
...what the hell...coleslaw and golden syrup?!
There's debauchery and then there things that should be considered human rights violations! |

Love this but discover the delight of toasted crumpet with onion chutney and mature cheddar melted over it as a delicious snack recently |

Lime marmalade and smushed up blueberries (if you don't smush them up they just roll off). Absolute god-tier crumpet topping.
Though I do also like meat paste on my crumpets so what the hell do I know? |

Nonsense, put the coleslaw etc back in the fridge.
You put good quality butter on a crumpet, when it has been toasted to perfection.
You allow it to cool just slightly first so that there is a texture profile to the butter rather than it just getting saturated and soggy.

"Cheese and coleslaw (cheese has to melt with the heat of the crumpet and not under a grill) is the very best crumpet topping. "
Oh no, coleslaw is not a good food at the moment. Does not make my mouth happy at all and would entirely ruin said crumpet.
Just real salted butter, properly melted in. Delicious.
