I just found The Wanderers!! I was never allowed to watch it

Same with Jaws, an American werewolf in London and Saturday night fever

What films did your parents say 'no your too young' to?

East London

I don't think they did ever stop me from watching anything.

I had a 10pm bedtime until I was 15; then I was out until 10.30, came in and went to bed.

We didn't have televisions in our rooms back then.

Not a film but my mum didn’t let me watch eastenders because she said they were letting people get away with murder in the show and top boy when it first came out because she said it glamorised gangs.

The Omen

So I went to a friends house and watched it while her parents were out. I’ve never been so scared. I had to confess to my mum I watched it because I couldn’t sleep

My parents were actually OK about letting me watch stuff. Their only thing was if there was a sex scene or someone was about to remove I had to look away until it was over.

Watching The Terminator went like this. Swearing? Fine. Violence? Fine. Was that a boob? OUT OF THE ROOM!

I was allowed to watch everything. I remember being embarrassed if sex scenes came on and my dad making it worse for reaching over and putting his glasses on theatrically!

The only thing I remember my dad turning off was nightmare on elm street, at the very bloody bedroom scene..but more cos there was only one TV around in a house in those days..and he probably wanted to watch something more intelligent/ high brow.

Only film I remember not being allowed to watch was Soldier Blue.

I did us to watch a lot of the old early 70s Hammer Horrors with my mum. Every time a pair of boobs came on the screen, I had to look at the wall. 50 years later, I can’t look at any masonry without getting a hard on.

My dad actually recorded an American werewolf in London for me to watch...even though I was probably too young.

Jaws, also, yes I remember watching at very young age too.

I ended up sleeping in my mum& dad's bed afterwards.

(Up until the age of 26)

I was allowed to watch anything. My parents were given a load of videos by a friend and didn't bother to look through them before letting us have access. I think I was about 9 when I watched Children of the Corn and Hellraiser.

I could watch whatever I wanted, hence the reason I do not really like horror films.

I wasn’t allowed to watch Pretty Woman. I’m sure there were likely more films I wasn’t allowed but this one I remember distinctly because I was watching at a cousin’s house and my parents made a massive to do about her and I watching it as if we had been found committing a crime.

She was younger than me and she chose it! Everyone thought I had suggested it.
