Oh I love that show so much!
Would it be cheating to get help from friends abroad? There was one season where the mum couldn't remember the exact address but knew roughly where her friend was. I think it would be allowed. |

It depends how much time you're given, if it's not a race against time, it's possible to get much further than just turning up at a random travel spot and taking the 1st available ticket to anywhere.
Bus travel could perhaps get you to Turkey. |

"For about £70 I can get to Ireland, from where I live. Not sure how far I could travel in Ireland but I'm guessing on a bus I could go rather far. "
That’s not very far! |

One way to pretty much any European country on Ryanair or easyJet would be do-able. I got to Málaga for £90 last year and it's only £2 per bus journey and I can get to the airport in 3 bus rides (so a day saver of £5 purchased). Or if I can book in advance, I'll get the train for £4.20 and push the 3 miles to the nearest station. |

Travelling east is mega expensive even by bus from here and takes forever. From Rosslare can jump on another ferry to Cherbourg and then onwards. |

Yes fine. You mean the interailing one?"
No, I'm just heading from town to the city...
So, £2 bus, free train into Newcastle, £3.80 metro ticket from Central station to Newcastle International Airport... I'll be back once I find a flight |

Rock bottom advance purchase budget flight tickets could easily get you to Turkey for much less than £250. You'd save a lot of time compared with buses. From Turkey, you could get boats or overland to a huge range of places. I don't know how their infrastructure is faring after the earthquakes though |

Apparently I can fly tomorrow to Azerbaijan for £124, stopover in Budapest where I'll sleep in the airport. So I can definitely get to Baku on £250 and have change for food. |

"If you had £250 to get as far as you could from your house to another country- how far do you think you’d get?"
About as far as the gate at the end of the front garden. Then I'd realise I have £250 and go back inside, order a takeaway and watch Netflix. I mean, I gave it a shot, right ? |

"£250 barely covers getting to the airport on public transport
Have you considered getting a coach
Walk, hitchhike to the coast. Cheap very into France and walk, hitch hike! No problem, really. "

Without a plane, it'd be a bus to St Helens then a bus to Liverpool and then see how much a boat ride to the furthest away place might be.
Otherwise, I might be able to get a cheap Megabus south and then more cheap buses to a port and possibly get to the Netherlands or France on a boat. Then I'd see what was left and either hitchhike or take as many cheap buses as possible + pushing long distances to get as far as possible. I reckon I'd make the German border with the Netherlands. |

From London I can get to Paris on the coach overnight for under £35. From there I’d probably do a lot of overnights but could get far into Europe but I’d stay in Western Europe for safety init |

Would get me to Bulgaria and back, if I’m packing light and going to Gatwick on the bus! Fortunately my daughter lives there and so I wouldn’t need accommodation. AND the beer is cheaper than water over there. Hmmmmm! |

I'm gonna head to the Netherlands cos it's flat and I can push a flat 10k in an hour. I could get far just on my wheels alone |

In theory you could hitch hike from these central asian/ ex soviet states to the top of India.
Might take a few weeks.. |

Now, I'm pretty excellent at finding cheap flights. Once got to Faro airport for £7.99 thanks to Ryanair - 2 years ago.
If this was a genuine challenge I would accept while been quietly confident I'd win.
Theres enough fuel in the car to get me to the airport already

I’ve been wanting to go to Bucharest to go to that ***vanilla*** spa/pools on a day trip for ages…
But the fares aren’t faring… really expensive. Even with employee discount!
I can’t do travelling on a shoestring. |

"Could I spend the £250 on snacks, hide under my quilt at home and just Photoshop my photo onto foreign landscapes?
Epic plan. £250 of snacks would be a lot though."
Would be a lot but trust me it wouldn't last long |

Good on you. It would be rude to ask to share, so I didn’t. |

Do people still hitch? When I was 16 myself and girlfriend got to Belgium and back for free. Good pair of shorts & a smile helps! |

Old farts bus pass to Bournemouth airport. Choosing cheapest dates Ryanair return to Carcassonne in South of France £65. Other cheap destinations available but I have a friend I can stay with near Carcassonne leaving me some money for while I am there. Only need carry on luggage for a few days stay. Lightweight clothes as it's hot there and friend has a washing machine. |
