The programme about the nhs on bbc2? I think its good so far. Thoroughly impressed with the embolectomy (? ?Think thats whats its called) never watched it done before. Clever stuff! |

I would welcome this, unfortunately there are more than a couple of problems with doing it.
The first will be that the NHS doesn't know the full cost of anything.
The second is that those who need treatment but 'don't like to make a fuss' will not take up treatments.
Third, some private sector body will say they can undercut that cost (whether true or not) in order to argue for the service to be run by them.
When I ran a participative budget session on NHS costs many years ago and used the broad costs per procedure that were available people it really difficult to choose doing some things over others (e.g. premature baby unit or hip replacements). |
