Hello and welcome to my football thread, continue here, it is for all leagues and what team do you support and are they playing today? I support man city and we will play against brighton and I reckon that we will win with 1-0 |

Derby fan here so premier league neutral for a while yet I fear. However I’d actually like to see Arsenal win it so pleased to see Liverpool slip up last night and hoping Brighton will get something tonight.
Sorry |

"Unfortunately a Man Utd fan. Out of the three of them, hope it's Arsenal that win the league this season.
"
Hoping we can help you get your wish today. Off to see my lot against the Scousers in the early ko. Not holding out much hope, as we are running on empty now. |

The Cockney Reds are at home to Burnley and I fancy us to sneak the win and stay in 6th.With Tottenham having a tough run of games to come if they lose a couple and we carry on sneaking wins we could finish the season in 5th |

Just looking at the table and remaining games, unfortunately as an Arsenal fan it looks like Tottenham will be the deciding team for all of us.
Assuming arsenal win all remaining games, Liverpool win all remaining games.
If city win their next 3 all they need is a point at West ham to win the league and still have a game in hand at old Trafford.
City have by far the easier run in of all the top three .
The fact that Tottenham are pushing for a champion's league spot is interesting and can still make ground on villa.
There's absolutely no room for a slip up for all clubs 1-6 |

Villa were extremely lucky to end up with a point in the end.
The most they can get now is 73 points & their remaining games are Brighton & Palace away, and Liverpool at home.
If they drop anymore points they can be caught by Spurs.
Of course that point means it's now mathematically impossible for Man Utd to finish in the top 4 |

Technically the Europa league will be easier to win from next year as you won’t get the champions league drop outs in the competition anymore….. |

Bring it on!!!!!!….
North London is red!!!!!"
Fab don't,I'm trying not to get excited but if The Arsenal can get past spurs today ohhhh god I'm like super nervous.
However I can't see city dropping any points there's a very real chance that Man U could win the title for us last game of the season against city. |

Man City aren’t playing Man Utd again in the league this season. City’s last game is at home to my lot - and I do not think we will be particularly disposed to helping you out. (Which makes it sound like we will decide to lose, when the reality is we haven’t got a cat’s chance in hell of getting a result there).
I did day that if The Arse won today, they have a real chance. My gut feeling is that City might, just might, draw a game unexpectedly. The only thing I can guarantee is that it won’t be against us. |

I would love Arsenal to win the league this year. My parents support them and would be good for them to see another title before they pass. Also, we’d never let you forget that it was one of ours that won it for you.

Every gooner a Spurs fan for 90mins on 14 May. That's the one game I think they *could* drop points in, assuming we're able to win all of ours...
We've played so well, but I think that Villa defeat will ultimately cost us. |

Two things before all the bank holiday weekend football starts
1) Germany secure the vaunted 5th champions league spot with Dortmunds win in the semi final first leg win over PSG… and the beneficiary of that extra spot.. borussia Dortmund!
2) Phil foden wins football writers player of the year…. For me Declan rice has been done here! … anyway foden came 1st, rice 2nd, Rodri 3rd… then odegaard, Ollie Watkins and Cole palmer |

An amazing coincidence that Stoke, playing their last home game, and a bunch of players looking for contracts…..turn in 4-0 win, after a season of the most turgid football ever seen.
Maybe job jeopardy is the way forward.

Birmingham City relegated to the 3rd tier for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Their season has been an absolute disaster from start to finish.
A yank consortium that included famous NFL egg-ball player Tom Brady, bought 45% of club shares in summer 2023. In a similar Glazers/INEOS at Man Utd style arrangement, the American group claims to be in charge of sporting decisions.
The first thing they do is sack manager John Eustace for absolutely no reason whatsoever, only to replace him with Wayne Rooney...which went about as well as you'd think.
2 wins in 15 matches later, they sack wazza & bring in Tony Mowbray, who then got sick and had to take medical leave.
Gary Rowett, who was the 2016 version of John Eustace when he was unceremoniously sacked by incoming owners, despite finishing just outside of the playoffs the previous season, returns as interim manager, but cannot prevent them from sliding into League One. |

The Arsenal are so tantalisingly close but we still have to play man u and Everton.
But I just can't see city dropping off the pace at all,our only hope ironically is Tottenham and the fact they are still wanting a European spot.

Many of their fans seemed to take great pleasure 2 years ago when Derby, having been deducted a whopping 21 points, were themselves relegated to league 1. So it seems somewhat ironic that the season Derby are promoted they see Birmingham going in the opposite direction. |

Normally being a AVFC fan I like to see the blue half of the city do well, we've had some great derby's together, but after the way they acted on social media to our defeat on Thursday, I couldn't be more happier to see them relegated. A 60k seat stadium they wanna build, no good in league 1. Time to find out what their owners are all about. Considering one of then was at the grand prix in miami yesterday instead of supporting their team.
On a lighter note, we can guarantee champions league football next season today. |

As an Arsenal fan I'm going to be selfish here, I want villa to qualify for Champions League but leave it until last game giving Tottenham a lifeline to keep playing for at least until they play city anyways best result all round would be a draw.
Ultimately the winning the league is about the entire season not just the last three games, if we lose it then we've lost to an outstanding team, retrospectively it's probably the Villa game that will have cost us.
That said we still have united and Everton to face.
Would have loved to have seen Villa stay in the mix a bit longer than they did seeing 4 team's with the power to win the league was exciting, no-one wants a one horse race.
Good luck |

If ever a group of owners got the result they deserved, it was Birmingham City’s yesterday. They sacked a decent manager doing a good job, to replace him with a “name” manager with little genuine pedigree. I imagine John Eustace has a rather large grin on his face this morning.
On a side note, can all you Villa fans going to Brighton today kindly not nick all the parking spots in Brighton today. We are planning to be there for midday for the northern soul all-dayer and would appreciate you not hogging everything. Cheers x |

I want those delusional fuckers to suffer and then suffer some more. Do you remember when they paraded a claret and blue coffin around when we went down? Yes boys what comes around….
Their new owners don’t even own the majority of the club yet they’re talking about building a 60,000 seater stadium on contaminated land for a fan base that averages gates of 19,000. The mind really does boggle.
As for the Villa, come on me babbies! |

That’s the natural pessimist in all true football fans talking there, Fabio. The reality is that Man Utd are 29 points worse off than Arsenal because they are bang-average at best. If the Gunners keep their nerve, they win on Sunday and the following week. You need to buy yourself a claret n blue scarf and hope that The Moyesiah has one last trick up his sleeve . |

New manager has done wonders. If they back him in the summer and let him use the Olise, Guehi, Eze money () I’d expect them to be easily top half next year. |

The Cockney Reds kick off at 4.30 against Arsenal and having just seen our line up no Fernandes & Rashford I think it will be a backs to the wall performance to hopefully nick a draw.On the plus side the women are leading 1-0 against Tottenham in the FA cup final at half time a brilliant goal from Ella Toone |

As an Arsenal fan.. what you want is for villa not to beat Liverpool tomorrow night !.. become a scouser for 90 minutes!
If they don’t, they can still get champions league football and they will have to try to beat city!
Anyway… back from OT…. Thoughts
Never got out of 2nd gear! Didn’t play well but for some reason never felt like we’d lose the game when going ahead!
Also… that storm.. if it looked bad on tv it was 10 times worse in the stadium… and yess that roof bloody leaks!!!
Happy… drenched.. and whatever happens between now and next Sunday.. so proud we took it to the final day!

Been a superb effort by The Arse this season.
My big fear is that Man City draw with Spurs this week, leaving them 3 goals behind on goal difference. The last thing I want to see next week is a City side needing to score goals. Would hate for The Moyesiah’s last game to be a hammering. |

Hope springs eternal, and I for one have no problem willing Spurs on this week if it does us a favour...stranger things have happened, but I can't see City slipping up.
Come what may, we can be proud of this season and lots of reasons to be optimistic for the next.
But to channel my inner Keegan, I'd love it if we beat 'em. Love it.

Arsenal have done really well against the other ‘top’ teams this season. But they have been left wanting against some of the ‘weaker’ teams.
If Man City win the title, as I expect them to, I can’t decide if Arsenal have thrown it away (the loss to Villa at the Emirates when it was in their own hands) or done well to come second to arguably the greatest club team we have seen in PL history.
That therefore leaves me equally undecided if I want Arteta to stay or go. You can make tangible arguments for both cases I believe. Some will argue he’s made progress but then there will be those who say ‘yeh but what has he actually won ?’. One FA cup is all from memory. As the saying goes ‘First is everything and second is nowhere’.

I think Arsenal have played some excellent stuff under Arteta.
Man City have worked the system for a number of years, spent an incredible amount and won almost everything. They won’t face any charges as they are way too powerful as effectively a national side. Limitless cash and lawyers.
My team , Villa, have had a wonderful season and given a choice between 4th and winning the Conference I would have taken the Conference every time.
That said now we are out I want to finish as high as possible.

Well my fiancé and her family of spurs fans are all excited at the possibility of Arsenal finishing the season trophyless. As they should be.
Fuck Arsenal. Fuck their fans. And fuck their players.
When Chelsea drew 2-2 to spurs and Leicester won the league I was in Stamford bridge and I celebrated that like a victory because it meant spurs didn’t win the league. Chelsea finished 10th. I couldn’t have been happier.
Let’s hope for the right result tomorrow. |

Happy… drenched.. and whatever happens between now and next Sunday.. so proud we took it to the final day!
Yes villa need to lose to keep spurs CL hope's alive.
If city draw at spurs it's we can look forward to a thundering last day of the season.
Come on Arsenal,I believe
Imagine peace breaking out in n most of London tomorrow night if the spuds manage to do the improbable tomorrow night.. arsenal fans would be in heaven, spurs might still have a shot at CL football, West Ham fans would be chuffed for Declan….
If peace can come to Northern Ireland then peace can come to those places “ north of the river”….
I have also seen the Tottenham under 7s and the 15-1 memes…
I have even promised to take one of my best mates who is a spurs fan out for dinner of her choice.. she said she is going into hiding!!!! "
"West Ham fans would be chuffed for Declan" has to be the most Arsenal fan thing to say in the world |

"If Spurs defeat/draw City, I will wear Spurs t-shirt while watching the next Arsenal game
Don’t soil yourself…….
As an Arsenal fan.. what you want is for villa not to beat Liverpool tomorrow night !.. become a scouser for 90 minutes!
If they don’t, they can still get champions league football and they will have to try to beat city!
Anyway… back from OT…. Thoughts

West Ham fans will be split 3 ways over Mr Rice - delighted for him, indifferent or hoping he ends up with nothing. Personally, I want him to win everything he can in his career and take pleasure from the fact that I saw over 90% of the games he played for us.
Just a pity that he had to play for one of the so-called Big 6 before the rest of the world cottoned on to what we could see after 20 games. |

The way I see it, is that the title race is between man city and arsenal, liverpool and aston villa wont have a chance. I like it more when it goes down to the wire. I think that man city will win it as they have a game in hand, who do you think will the premier league? |

I think Man City experience of the run in and going on long unbeaten runs in the 2nd half of the season will edge it for them. However tomorrow they have the play away to Tottenham and apart from this season in the FA cup Man City have yet to win at Tottenham’s new stadium.I think Man City will win at Tottenham and beat West Ham on Sunday thereby winning a 4th consecutive Premier League |

Well there’s only Arsenal and Man City able to win it and it’s been that way for a few weeks. |

So… where do we start?
Vote on potentially scrapping VAR?…..
I actually don’t have an issue with the concept… and definite yes nos like offside, goal line tech ect, I have an issue with how “clear and obvious” in overturns are applied….. |

It’s killing my enjoyment of the game. I actually didn’t celebrate a crucial goal the other week, as I was expecting it to be disallowed. That left me and 3k Leverkusen fans not enjoying that fantastic feeling.
Problem is, our officials are now so much less efficient than they were pre-VAR, due to sub-consciously abdicating decisions to the process, that it will take a few seasons for their standards to rise to a sufficient level again. The amount of pain during this period will be excruciating.
VAR as used in the 2018 World Cup was excellent. The Premier League’s use of it is not. If they keep it, I would like to see a rule introduced that if they cannot make a decision in 30 seconds, then it is deemed as not being a “clear and obvious error”. |

I agree the VAR used at the 2018 World Cup was excellent.I think 30 seconds to make a decision on clear and obvious is a good idea or even up to 60 seconds but no more than that otherwise the referee decision should stand |

Rugby does a much much better deal in explaining exactly what is being looked at, and showing the conversation between the ref and the TMO and the process to both viewers at home and in the ground
Rugby also shows the replays to the crowds in the stadium where football doesn’t so people there only know they have to told at “something”

" Yes, it seems that city have already won it, we will see what happens |
