Also "skinny fit" jeans/tracksuit/jogging bottoms for men.

The skinny legs & baggy crotch thing just looks ugly, like you're wearing a pair of Pampers baby dry underneath.

Why can't I find trousers for men that look normal?

Eyebrows are fine. Certain eyebrows that give the wearer a look of a permanently surprised pantomime dame aren't to my taste .

Please assume the usual stuff about it's not my business how other people look etc

Oh god I'd forgotten about them. I'll add giving your child a humiliating dressing down, recording it, posting it on social media and basking in the praise of people who imagine that public humiliation that will stay on the net forever is good parenting.

About 3 feet away from the fence

The "consent preferences" popup dialog in phone apps.

It's bad enough on websites, and has rendered a lot of the internet virtually unusable for me on a phone, but now this abhorrent fuckry has found it's way into freemium apps.

If I download an app, but I have to set 74 'legitimate interest' switches to off before I can even use it, probably just so you can show me yet another fucking TikTok or Temu ad, I'm just going to uninstall it rather than waste my time.

Hey developers, it's easier to leave you a shitty review on Google play than faff around with all that crap.

I don't care what GDPR thing you have to adhere to, if you can't integrate your sponsorship in a less annoying way, you can hold this 1 star rating you lazy, greedy plebs.

I'm going to upset a lot of people here, and it was mentioned on passing above.

Will the trend for massive all-over tattoos pass? If so, then history will show a generation of people who were clearly influenced.

I met some guys recently with no tatts and when they took their clothes off, they actually looked naked ... which is a refreshing turn on...

Tiktok - it's toxic and dangerous, especially for teenagers.

Using phones like walkie talkies - walking around with them held in front of their mouths and on speaker so the whole street can hear. No one gives a shit about your conversation love, put the phone to your ear like a normal person.

The funny thing about this thread is seeing just how much people hate change. I suppose what they say about us all eventually becoming our parents is true.

Change is the only constant, it’s inevitable, and it’s going to happen whether you like it or not.

One post talked about YouTubers not being famous ‘in the real world’, sorry to burst your bubble but they are, they’re famous right now and they are popular with the people who matter, the ones who aren’t going to be dead soon. Someone like Mr Beast is far more influential and popular than anyone in your favourite TV program. His reach is incredible, and it’s with the people who are going to be running things soon.

These things may be annoying but they are what’s happening now, as well as being the future. We can all end up sounding like the old people we took the piss out of when we were young or we can accept the world has moved on, and it doesn’t belong to us anymore.

Very true life moves on and splits to allow growth for younger generations to find their own.

Streaming films / shows will never takeoff I was told. Boom look at us now Much like my grandparents said TV would never replace radio / newspapers will never be replaced fir news etc

Either accept change and roll with it or just carry on in your own bubble.

Nostalgia plays heavily into each generation growing as well

Ahh, right, I thought your comments were about people’s attitudes, actions and behaviours as in relation to the thread, I didn’t realise they were made in the context of thermodynamics, my mistake, I’ll leave you to your thermodynamics discussion, that sort of things not really my forte.

It was, the thermodynamics reference was in response to you saying things inevitably stay the same, they don’t, and billions of years of evidence backs this up.

"These things may be annoying but they are what’s happening now, as well as being the future. We can all end up sounding like the old people we took the piss out of when we were young or we can accept the world has moved on, and it doesn’t belong to us anymore."

When did the world belong to me? I must have missed that bit.

Trends tend to be by their nature, of the mass not the individual. Of the sheep seeking conformity with the mass, not the eagle soaring on the winds of individual expression. As such, I've always rejected trends. Even when young.

Things change. People change. But the idea that the world belongs to the young is a fallacy promoted by those seeking wealth and power in the future by appealing to the mass.

It is why all marketing targets the young. Why politicians target the young. Being young means you have less experience of the subtle tricks such people employ, and often seek conformity in the mass to hide individual insecurity.

The old have seen it before and are more set in their ways. Are more secure. Less likely to follow trends.

As a result "trends" are fleeting explorations of the world by the young, from which those with wealth and power seek to capitalise to maintain there wealth and power.

So I reject the notion the old should sit quietly by and surrender the world to the young. On the contrary I believe the old should be more vocal in warning the young about the lust for wealth and power of the machiavellian few, educate the young about their deceptive arts, so that the young can prosper from the experience of the old and build more fruitful lives.

Not look like a clown with trout lips, painted eyebrows, clothes that don't fit, an unquestioning mind, and a psychological profile willing gifted to marketing executives and the state from their extensive use of social media and cashless payments.

Someone like Mr Beast is far more influential and popular than anyone in your favourite TV program. His reach is incredible, and it’s with the people who are going to be running things soon.

You're wrong and that's fine

Genuinely though, I meant the lack of charisma I traditionally associate with real celebrity and the global ubiquity of YouTubers using the same rehashing of the same materials to confirms the algorithms, and their inability to maintain "the Rizz" when they're out of their own comfort zones (i.e. when they're on someone else's YouTube Channel).

There's a great Guardian article - it's a long read - The Tyranny of the Algorithm: Why every coffee shop looks the same.

I'm also reminded - the plethora of Subscription services. See "The Internet is Staying to Break - Here's why" by YouTuber celebrity MrWhoseTheBoss :D (the irony!)

They don’t need charisma though, they have the algorithm! How and why they are famous and influential doesn’t really matter, they are.

I’m not a fan of them at all but I acknowledge that they are successful, and they are influential. If we don’t get why that’s on us, not them.

Dinosaurs had been gone for around 66 million years by the time early man was around.

There were shrew size primates around at the same size as dinosaurs but it’s a hell of a stretch to call them ‘early man’.

Very few people can pull it off. Usually a Kiwi or Aussie rugby or cricket player can. However the vast majority of people trying this look out are skinny hipsters or students and they just don't have the right physical attributes to rock it unfortunately. Anyone doing this look will look back at pics in 10/20 years time and think wtf! It didn't look good in the 80s when it first came round and it certainly doesn't look good now.

I think they have put a little modern spin on the classic 80’s mullet, it isn’t as in your face as it once was. Agreed that not everyone can pull it of though. It’s a hot look on the ones that can.

It's not aimed at me either, and I too, move on. Whilst laughing to myself at the stupidity of the insecure soul.

However you took my sentence out of context. So to clarify, I too had some dubious fashion choices as a youngster. Luckily I heeded some warnings from wiser older heads and didn't go full on. I saved my skin for tattoos at an older age where they had deep meaning and significance, rather than something done on a whim because it was part of a trend.

As such, it was an example of the benefits of valuing opinions of our elders, as opposed to that which I counted, which claimed the world belonged to the young

Woke….the argument for tolerance and acceptance that increasingly showing itself as utterly intolerant and unaccepting of any view that doesn’t match its narrative / fulfil its echo chamber desires.

Cancel culture…..oh, there are things you don’t like in this world? Tough shit, unfortunately. You have no authority to rewrite history. You have no authority to silence personal opinion. You’re not owed a fairytale. Life owes you nothing.

Binary stances…..”If you’re not with us, you’re against us”. Nonsense. I can be utterly ambivalent.

Pronoun obsession…..identify however you wish; it’s your life, not mine. But it is just that….your decision, your life, your reality. Not mine. Not everyone else’s. I wouldn’t deliberately ignore someone’s choice if I knew it and I don’t wish anything ill against anyone who makes a choice for themselves, but I’m not actively going to ask either, for the reasons stated above. I avoid stating mine wherever possible as I feel no need to.

Probably losing friends from this one, but in the name of honesty, this is how I feel.
