Scam callers payback.

I seem to be getting a wide variety of scam callers at the moment, my favourite is from Benificial who seem to call me once or twice a week with the same script each time so I’m getting to know what they are going to say.

So being the helpful young chap that I undoubtedly am, I help them out by reciting the script before they have a chance to say it.

For some reason they get extremely flustered and tend to start making mistakes as they try to compose themselves and get back on track. They eventually catch on to my time wasting tactic and put the phone down on me.

I have such a sad life that I’m now looking forward to their calls to give me my amusement fix for the day

Anyone else enjoy their scam caller’s discomfort?

Be very wary of saying YES on these calls as some scammers record it to.then pass.your voice into an A.I. generator. I always answer the calls silently until they speak and avoid answering with any words that would be useful to them.

I used to put the phone beside the radio to see how long it would be before they'd hang up.

These days it's easier to just block and forget them.

Wow, never thought of this before!!

Technology is a wonderful thing until it gets into the hands of the wrong people.

Also I seem to be getting a lot of "You've missed my call" messages at the moment. When I click on the message there is always a link that will inevitably be connected to a scam of some sorts. Just block and delete tham now. Trouble is now there's big money in selling your details so it leaves you open to this sort of thing..

I just let them go all the way through their script, making it sound as though I'm interested, but just when they think they've boated their bass, I suddenly tell them I'm not interested.

They do get rather annoyed when they've had THEIR time wasted.

ooh i love them ... the phone ones are my favourite - they tell me they have a new phone for me .. so i ask them where it is - and they say Im going to have to pay for it - but you said i had a new phone, but i still go this one here , why do i need to change it ? its working because Im talking to you on it. I cant send it to you because i wouldnt be able to speak to you on it.

I think once i must have had the whole office listening because i could hear the laughter and yea they put the phone down on me.

or the 'you have been in a road accident' Oh yea - can you tell me when it was? it must have been a really bad one because I cant remember it .

my list is endless yes wfh has its moments!

Update.

Had another Beneficial call today, she sounded nice and the type of lady I’d like to meet so asked her very politely, “after the survey, would you reward me by sucking my penis?” I think my request was lost in translation as she sounded Far Eastern so politely asked her again.

For some unimaginable reason, after a short pause and gasp, she hung up on me!!

How extremely rude I thought

I used to play them for a while but don't bother now. It is fun when they ask you for a western union transfer so you give them a made up number and have them go back and forward saying you've made a mistake and changing a digit

Every spam caller, text, or email you get should be forwarded to your networks spam or phishing reporting service - followed by blocking them.

It’s surprisingly really effective but massively underused.

When I get one, I forward it to the saved number in my phone and get a thank you back but never hear twice from the same spammer.

If they ask for me by name I ask what is it concerning. If it's something I reckon is a scam I tell them I'm my cousin and I passed away a couple weeks ago. If there is a hell I know where I'm going

That's an interesting and helpful insight about avoiding giving them our voices, to prevent AI from being used to clone our voices.

I always remain silent, when answering unknown callers. Often their systems disconnect me

I just got called by an 'insurance company". Asking about details of a recent accident.

I get these type of fishing calls every few months.

I told the person that I died in the so called accident. And I'm a ghost now.

People can't see me, but they can hear me.

I was hoping for a long-winded abstract convo about consciousness, but they hung up, sadly.

Good one, I used to get those “recent accident” calls but not had one in a good while. If I do get one in the near future I will be shamelessly stealing the reply you used lol.

And yet here you are with your personal details on a public adult website.

It would be nice to have a recorded interactive answering system for them.

Google Pixels now have a screening tool, that answers and vets them
