Does sex always ruin friendships?

I wouldn't say always.
What kind of friendships are you talking about?
I like to think I'm friends with people I'm having regular sex with.
Some of them still chat, even though we don't have sex now. |

I suppose it can. It will definitely change the dynamic of the relationship, but that doesn't mean it will ruin it.
It depends on the people and how they feel about someone they have sex with.
will it bring them closer and feelings develop?
Could that cause problems or make the friendship bond stronger.
Before indulging in a sexual relationship with a platonic friend I'd have a serious, long conversation. |

Not always.
I’ve never had sex with my best friend. It would change our friendship in a way we do not fancy.
I do have a friend who I’ve known for over three decades. We’ve ebbed and flowed from platonic to friends with benefits. We can do so without negative changes to our friendship. We are complimentary to one another in personalities which I reckon makes it possible for us to remain friends and shag, as well as go between both without animosity. |

With some I think it would but I have slept with one of my friends and it literally makes no difference at all to our friendship.
We are still the same now as we always have been.
Maybe because they are female is why it is fine?
Maybe a male would be a different result?

Many years ago I was friends with a lady from work for years, nothing sexy asides a little light flirting from time to time.
Then she started getting weird around me which went on for a couple of months of her increasingly being distant before I finally asked what I'd done wrong by txt (because I'm brave like that...)
She replied she was coming over, then explained that she kept thinking about having sex with me and it was weirding her out. Few days later she called in again and suggested we "do it, have that uuugh moment and get over it" her words not mine.
Well I was up for it and spent the rest of the day and night in bed with me.
It worked, her urge taken care of and we went back to being close friends again for a good few more years.
So that's a long way of saying sometimes sex can save a friendship. |

I think it really just depends on the kind of relationship you have with them, rather than their gender.
I made the mistake of having sex with a female friend. It got really messy and we’re no longer friends.
I’d also like to mention that I don’t make a habit of having sex with all my friends  |
