Reduce the reading by 100 or so unit's thus making your bill a little less. Yes it will add it to the next quarter but that will be the summer quarter where (hopefully) you'll have used less gas due to the heatwave that I'm hoping for, so your bill will be spread a little better. After that, speak to your supplier and ask to switch to their cheapest tariff and ask for fixed monthly payments |

Look long term. Lock into the longest fixed contract you can. Get a woodburner if you can. We have got one, it has cost us £300 to heat our house since September |
