"Sleep. avoid people. make sure there's not too much blood in my caffeine stream.
Been doing this too much now Trying to actually. Get a decent self care routine as I'm falling appart "
I recently watched a video suggesting that most people's "self care" is actually capitalism and/ or self neglect. |

It is also written in the UKCP's and BACP's ethical guidelines for therapists.

Sure. It's not the point that the video was making though. It was something like, most people when talking about self care talk about processes which involve buying things. They use an analogy, if your baby is screaming, you find out why the baby is screaming and care for their needs. You are their carer. If your baby is screaming and you give them a bubble bath and a facial (in the vanilla sense, calm down) rather than working out what they need, you're neglecting them.
Now pretend that that baby is you. What do you need? It likely isn't a bubble bath and a facial. |

"Eat well
Sleep well
Swim
And tell toxic people to f**k off
"
The latter, it’s the single biggest game changer anyone can utilise in their world!
Just exit toxicity, exit, don’t play with it, don’t pretend it’ll get better, don’t fixate and procrastinate that if you’d have done x they’d have done something different!
We all know toxicity when we see it but so many of us (me included) don’t heed the warnings!
Exit toxic people; end |

Alone time and plenty of walking.
The best thing I realised is that I don’t always have to be busy. Taking time out for me is not selfish or lazy but actually very important for me to be able to navigate through life. |

I like walking too. In the middle of nowhere with my brother's dog. A good walking companion and instant mood lifter & great for the dog too.
Also I'll watch documenteries in the bath. |

Avoid negativity where I can, particularly the news in all forms of media. Negative people also.
Try to get 8 hours of sleep a night (not always possible).
Attempt to get a good dose of fresh air weekly; gardening, long walk, wild swimming.
Each home cooked meals 90% or time, 10% take away or processed quickness.
Drink a litre if water a day and each lots of fresh fruit and veg.
Pamper often; hot steamy bubble baths, skin facial masks and moisturiser.
Need to be more active to improve fitness levels.
Wish I'd started looking after myself 20years earlier .... |

Jogging at least 5k twice per week. I was most definitely a non jogger who could barely manage a few laps of the small local park before Covid, and I started jogging through wanting to do some exercise to help maintain my wellbeing and fitness. Now I really miss it if I don't jog regularly. |

"Fishing , running or detecting on the beach like a geek, but completely away from people! (don’t laugh!)
Come on then, what's your best finds?"
I’m brilliant with bottle tops! I’m gonna go early in the morning in the summer and clean up all the lost jewellery and watches left by d*unken beach shaggers. (Side-step the used condom packets ) |

"What is your self care routine "
Bloody hell, that is the question. Old man with type 2 here. Trying the carnivore diet here for the last few months. Got my sugar levels back to normal. No carbs or added sugar. Trying to sleep better. Have a PT who does weights three times a week and I walk and walk and walk…stopped all meds! Still don’t have a fuck off erection like I had a few years ago. Damn my old failing body. Still endlessly horny, though… |
