As much information as possible is needed, including photos of possible, as well as detailed notes made at the time, if possible. You'll need an exact time and date that it happened.
Normally, you're looking for depths of 4cm and larger - and they will measure and take their own records, if you report it. |

The state of the roads os disgusting. Some of hem in the centre of towns and cities. I had two damaged, never claimed though. And the wear to tyres is evident. Today was passing a road that was done with that stupid chip stuff only few months ago, most of it already hone. All they do is waste money. Any holes they fill are not finished or sealed or finished properly, some right next to them not done. They are an absolute disgrace. |

My kids and some friend s have photographed a load & made a no distributed calendars showcasing of all the pot holes in the town with measurements and silly names for each month. I think I saw one that was 7cm deep called the (town name) ripper |

Wheel and tyre would be the least of the worries for one transit van driver up our lane last week, he took the sump out.
The road has sunk the entire width and about 4 feet in length and about 8 to 10 inches deep.
It’s fine if you slow right down and just let the vehicle toodle through but being a white van man he hit it at about 30 mph.
Don’t think he’ll be able to claim because about quarter of a mile previous is a sign saying road closed, it’s not physically closed because where the hole is is where a lorry needs access everyday and a business needs constant access, but they have put up road closed signs to stop people going up there when you don’t have too.
Apparently they are digging it out, filling it with stone and re tarmacing it ‘soon’. |
