Eurovision 2024
Jump to: Newest in thread
It is on 11th May. The current top seven odds to give you an idea are as follows
Switzerland. 9/4.
Croatia. 17/4.
Italy. 5/1.
Ukraine. 8/1.
Netherlands. 17/2.
France. 22/1.
Belgium. 22/1.
Greece. 28/1.
Nobody of course knows who will be in the final as the semis are on earlier that week on 7th and 9th May.
You can discuss here which one you like best but message me who you predict to be the actual winner. After the event I will post back here the names of all those that correctly predicted the winner and the date they did so. Just a bit of lounge fun. |

Love Eurovision and use it as an excuse for a party every year.
But not this year. If they can boycott Rusdia, they can boycott Israel. I won't be watching. |

It certainly is different. Not that there are many boy bands on this year. There are a few good songs. To let you into a little secret though I like to think I have a good and varied taste in music, for eurovision purposes I enjoyed it more when all songs used to be in local language, lots of ethnic stuff, hilarious acts and certainly not much main stream music. I found it more entertaining but I appreciate not everyone would

Given the amount of times the UK has been kicked in the bollocks for political reasons (we came second-from-bottom last year, even though we graciously put on a really expensive show because the Ukrainians weren't in a physical or financial position to) it's got reach the point where this ritual humiliation should have the nation saying: "Sod this, we're off...".
There are a lot of countries across the globe which hate us now, and it's being reflected in Eurovision each and every year.
Before you say it, yes, we fluked it two years ago with a decent song and rare instance where our performer had real personality. Every other time for the last few decades, it's been an international joke to do the UK down.
As one of the Big Five (the countries being the largest financial contributors to the contest) it's pretty shite that the UK is used as a punchline for an international joke year on year. Maybe it's time to take the ball and go home.
I've watched it every year since the late 70s, and it's all become way too political, going far beyond just the Eastern Bloc voting for each other. |

Yes it is taking place, because people watch it, love it, talk about it. Makes money too. And a couple of years ago, when Ukraine couldn’t host due to war (damn russians) the uk was more than happy to have Eurovision in Liverpool.
I quite enjoyed watching it tonight. But I know I would find the usual killjoys.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Doesn’t mean that all opinions are good or worth listening to, though |

No one died in Gaza on October 6th. Why are you attacking Israel. They are the victims in this. If someone attacked and killed members of your family and then said that they are going to do this time and time again until you are all wiped out, what are you going to do.
Attack the perpetrators not the victims. |
