So generally speaking, I'm not usually a fan of horror movies. They tend to be very clichéd and not very scary a lot of the time. Of course there's some brilliant horrors like Poltergeist, Hell Raiser, The Omen. Then it dawned on me that 2 of my favourite films of all time across any genre are horrors. So much so I've got tattoos relating to these films. Silence of the Lambs and Pan's Labyrinth.
I appreciate that is a long winded introduction to ask what are everyone else's favourite horror movies? |

The Conjuring
and
all that talk about how “not scary” Blair Witch wasn’t, led me to watch it by myself one night and then had to pause it and call my then boyfriend who was out with mates to come home immediately! |

I saw it in the cinema. Thought it was tosh and with the camera constantly shaking, it made me feel sea sick. |

"the thing kurt russel great movie,, if it falls as horror movie"
Definitely a horror. Great film.
I'd go as far to say Terminator 1 and Alien were horrors. The sequels were definitely action though. |

It changes.
I've realised a lot of my favourite things change frequently and I'm really rather awful at this sort of question.
I love Korean horror. Adore Guillermo Del Toro so much, less so the poignancy that seems to a trademark. Ari Aster's catalogue is fantastic although surreal would be an understatement at times.
Right now I'd say my top three would be...
Midsommar (the basic millennial stock answer)
Train to Busan
The Thing. |

The Exorcist was superb actually. Scared the shit out of me the first time I watched it when I was about 15. |

I’m a hardcore horror film fan and very few get to me. However and I still don’t understand why, but the Blair Witch Project really freaked me out a bit. I understand the criticism but it hit home with me.
Night of the Demon, one of the first films I loved.
Midsommar last one I have watched more than twice.
Night of the Lepus for B Movie magic, so funny but entertaining for me. |

I've never really seen a film that's scared me. My mum Would rent me the nightmare on elm st movies, hellraiser, the howling, poltergeist and other horrors of the time so I think built up a bit of a tolerance for 'scary' films as a young child. |

My old dear didn’t purposely rent these titles for me but I still watched them all without her knowing and it definitely made me immune
All those movies are amazing too btw |

American Werewolf in London is brilliant. Actually really funny too.
Love Alien.
And Phantasm. Watched it as a kid, can't remember loads about. Think I need to rematch it. |

Ones that got me out
Eden Lake
Wolf Creek
Kill List
Hereditary
But the one that got me the most isn't a horror but a mild (to some) supernatural thriller with Richard Gere. The Mothman Prophecies.
It's got great sound and some REALLY eerie camera shots that still creeps me out as much as 1st time seeing. |

"The Terminator "
Glad someone else sees this as a horror movie, rather than a sci fi action flick. It's like neo-noir, Sci fi zombie movie at it's bare bones. T2 is awesome and most people prefer T2, but I think The Terminator is a better film and I definitely prefer it. Although they're different genres and it's like comparing apples and oranges. |

"You can’t beat the classics, like Alien, Evil Dead, Halloween etc.
But I also enjoy more recent ones. Event Horizon is up there for me. Saw it randomly as a teen and loved it ever since."
Event Horizon is great. I once heard it described as Hellraiser in space....then the world eventually did get a Hellraiser in space |

It's definitely sci-fi what with the time travelling and androids/robots - but definitely horror too. |

You see I always considered event horizon as more sci fi, but either way I love it and was enraged when Danny Boyle obviously tried copying it badly with sunshine.
I love
Stephen king's It, I'm looking forward to the new one.
I liked talk to me, even though it should obviously have been called talk to the hand lol |

You besmirch the Great Danny Boyle against Paul WS Anderson. The guy is a filmic genius where Anderson is a hack who's not made one good movie is his entire filmography. EH is ok at best.
Sunshine was excellent and wasn't looking to compete.
This is a great interview around the time of release with Brian Cox in attendance too

Is Pans Labyrinth classed as a horror?
I really enjoy the Blade and the Alien films as classic horrors |

"Can’t remember anything that I would deem as a good horror in the last decade.
1 that does spring to mind is The Green Inferno.
That movie was ferocious."

I'm not entirely sure what I like in horror films, sometimes the violence is necessary for getting the right feel, but at other times I've found some disgusting and outright offensive?
I miss when they were weird and creative, seeing one from the 80s recently where people become zombies after eating this strange alien ice cream |

I've seen a few, anything involving animals, babies and children makes me feel angry immediately.
Something that springs to mind was one of the Hills Have Eyes films (I think it was) where one of the women gets r**ed by a mutant. We've already established that these things are murderous and horrible, going that far just felt like the directors didn't know where to stop, and it went beyond the realms of horror into lowlife bad taste. |

"I'm not big into horror, especially gory stuff by my absolute favourite is Silence of the lambs, se7en... I love psychological horror "
I think Silence of the Lambs isn't just one of the greatest horror movies, but one the greatest movies regardless.
Jame Gumb aka Buffalo Bill is genuinely terrifying. "Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me, I'd fuck me hard, I'd fuck me so hard."
All the while dancing around to Goodbye Horses. What a tune BTW. |
