Couldn't pelvic floor exercises do that?
Sorry I'm actually genuinely curious. I do a lot of pelvic floor exercises as I like to not pee when I sneeze or laugh and having had 6 children it took its toll. |

Pelvic floor exercises aren't going to fix or prevent everything, no. I've had one vag repair done, but it's failed already

this is why i was asking as I suffered intensive damage and was only offered a electric machine to assist with my pelvic floor. I'm guessing its not available on the nhs .. |

Pelvic organ prolapse repair and injury to the architecture of the pelvic floor is definitely covered by the NHS. Cosmetic surgery for purely aesthetic reasons are not, generally. My surgery was not aesthetic, it was to repair damage. I'm awaiting further (NHS) surgery now too. I've been waiting for well over a year since being out on the surgical list and about 2 years since being referred to the clinician who is treating me.
Not all pelvic organ injury can be surgically repaired and it's come on a lot in the past years, but I know my Grandma had surgery for prolapse in the late 1960s, so it's not entirely new. Hers was NHS too. |

this is why I'm curious... as I said.. I had a lot of damage and was basically told pelvic floor exercises .... so was unaware this was available.... as not even been anything suggested.
I didn't mean it in a bad way. I was curious as well... have had issues myself and being told to suck it up buttercup etc xx |

It's never too late to ask for referral to a urogynaecologist. Ordinary gynaecologists are usually not specialised enough. |

Sorry OP but this is a wasted opportunity imho. You could have framed this as an interesting topic about why a medically necessary procedure was undertaken downstairs, what the benefits have been and seek the experiences of others. Instead it has come across - to me anyway - as "look at my shiny new gash". A number of people have opened up the topic to have an informative discussion on here so why not run with that rather than being defensive? |

I agree - hopefully it has resolved whatever medical issue it was OP, and it's great you're obviously very pleased with the results. But your title, and comment did very much read like a cosmetic procedure. Which is also great of you'd wanted that done. But if it's a medical issue other women could benefit from knowledge on then that'd have been very interesting to read. |

Pelvic floor exercises are first line for incontinence or prolapses. If its prolapse next option is a pessary. If all that fails, and has significant impact on quality of life there are surgical options. Urogynaecology really took the hit with covid, as it's not life threatening or cancer, there is a massive backlog! But services are out there to help if needed! |

Aside pessaries, what alternatives are there for symptomatic prolapse and significant muscle injury, that are refractive to pelvic floor exercises? My surgeon was female, for your information. |
