The funny thing about the War of the Worlds broadcast is that it was presented as a play with the usual sponsor's messages and introduction, but lots of people tuned in late and missed all that, and just heard the fake news reporting that was part of the drama. Orson Welles was as shocked as anyone when people thought it was real. |
