Is anyone else a Plant Person?

My oddly old-before-my-time hobby is that I collect houseplants. Philodendrons specifically.

Imagine my surprise when the first person I met after coming back to this site a few months ago was also a plant person. It was serendipitous.

Is anyone else a plant person?

More importantly, does anyone have philodendrons to swap?

(I also love other aroids, I don't want to have them feel left out).

Wouldn't particularly say I'm a plant person or collector.

But I like growing my own food, from seed.

I’ve got a Bonsai in my office and a Peace Lilly.

Can’t really say I’m green fingered but, I find them relaxing.

I need recommendations for a slightly different indoor office plant

Who needs a therapist when you have house plants to talk to? They're great listeners, don't judge, and always bring a breath of fresh air into your space. Plus, they're way cheaper than therapy sessions!

Philodendron almost reads as 'leaftrees' if you read it in Greek in your head

I like this word.

I'm doing well at the moment. I've not neglected a houseplant to death for at least 2 years. I have 6 that are currently alive, but they're not thriving....

P.S. I'm a professional gardener

Nell

I have philodendron brasil, it's new to my house, it came from a big DIY store and it cost £1.

Its looking nice and healthy with good variegated leaves and peach coloured new shoots. I want to get it a post to climb up.

If it thrives, you're welcome to have some of its offspring OP.

my mother gave me some cuttings from hers a few weeks ago and I’m currently fingers crossed for them to take!

I used to have a lovely one hanging in my bathroom until my dickhead ex killed it.

I bought a spider plant from the middle of my nearest supermarket, because they are supposed to purify the air in the home.

All that happened was the spider plant became a home for those tiny, midge things which hover in front of my computer monitors late at night. You know, those midge things which I can never trap between my hands, no matter how fast I clap.

I’ve just started getting houseplants. I’m not gonna lie, some of them have had a hard time because I forgot to water them but I’m really trying now. I have a baby monstera from a friend on here so I’m going to be a better plant mum now

Outdoor plants I do much better with, thankfully. I do love a Hydrangea and a Camellia

You should water from the bottom, stops this from happening.

Maybe I need to be a findom who takes payment in rare plants.

Even better - maybe as their service they could just come round and water them all for me.

"Make that 39! House plants lol"

I recently started a little database to keep track of info about them.

I’ve got over 50 in my little house.

I should never have started the database because I just didn’t want to know how bad it’s got.
