What is the best band you have ever seen live?
Jump to: Newest in thread
"Tool, nine inch nails, lunachicks, nirvana, Pete Murphy, rammstein had great stage presence, even in the very early days "
Sadly Kurt Cobain died before I was born. So never got chance to see Nirvana. I have seen Rammstein live. Another amazing band. |

Loved when Maiden flew over the spitfire at Download some years ago.
One of my favourite live music memories was ok the hill at download, in the rain, no entirely sober, dancing around to Pendulum and The Prodigy and just having the best time.
But all time favourite live band is Muse. Ironically I actually don’t really like their music but they just put on the best live show, seen them a couple of times now. |

I saw Desmond Dekker at a ball in Oxford ! I have never been to a concert! I don't do crowds ,which is probably why. If I did there are so many I'd like to see. |

The best band i have ever seen live was Lynyrd Skynyrd At Knebworth in 1976. A very large proportion of the crowd had never heard them before, but they had certainly heard them when the set was over. I think i can safely say that Skynyrd blew the Rolling Stones off the stage. |

"Foos everytime
Definitely Foo fighters for me too
Off to Manchester to see them this year we are at the villa in brum to see them "
Been to a lot of their concerts.
The best ones were the ones that were like mini festivals. A whole day of different band.
The Taylor Hawkins tribute was the best I’d been to though just for all the bands coming together to celebrate his life. |

Really difficult one to answer.
I've seen a hell of a lot of bands.
Neurosis and Pitchshifter at the Marquee around 1991 for sheer visceral experience.
Dog eat Dog and Downset at the Underworld for sheer fun.
Biohazard at the Marquee for the aftershow.
Slayer at Nottingham Rock City
Faith No More at Subterrania.
Boysetsfire anywhere I've seen them.
The list is endless.

"AC/DC and The Offspring
Never seen AC/DC sadly
I saw Acdc at their very first Uk gig I'm a pub in London."
How come? Ac/dc would have toured London in the arly to mid - seventies. You'd have been about 6 years old! |

First played UK in 1976.
So if poster is now 57, as per profile, you’re right, they would have been quite young … about 9. |

"Cream at their Fareell concert in the Royal Albert Hall. Yes and Rory Galaghers Taste were support with John Peel the compare. "
Creams farewell concert at the Albert hall was 1968, that would have made you one year old at the time. |

The Jam. I’ve been to hundreds of gigs, seen hundreds of bands, nobody even comes close to coming close.
Runners up are The Chords with their reunion gig at The Garage in Islington
Honorary mentions for Stiff Little Fingers (circa 50+ gigs) and Nine Below Zero (1981, Friars).
Most unexpected great gig was Bauhaus in ‘81. Didn’t like the music at all, phenomenal stage act. |

For pure ability to perform so perfectly live then I’d say Tool.
For atmosphere I’d say Saul Williams - a crowd where only a few knew his music was completely transformed with him down in the crowd going a capella. It was amazing! |

My self and some work mates discovered ACDC very early on ( not their first gig) we then followed them until Bon's demise. |

I think a lot of the time the venue itself can be important factor.
I've seen some very accomplished bands, but sometimes the quality of the sound can be awful. |

"I've seen a few good bands. My top two are Iron Maiden and The Killers. Iron Maiden is number one for me. To see them live was something phenomenal. "
Seen iron maiden in some big stadiums.
I would have loved to have seen iron maiden with Paul d'dianno, in a tiny venue. |

Sorry for that joke. I quite like Mick jaggers solo stuff. x |

Probably Gloryhammer with Brothers of Metal. That was a phenomenal gig.

Maiden is a popular answer but for me the only time I’ve seen them live was probably the worst gig I’ve ever been to
I saw Mr Big in 2011 after waiting years for them to reform… that was something special.
I also saw Biffy Clyro supporting another band in a tiny venue in north wales in about 2003, you could tell they were going to be massive |

"Live would be Rammstein
They're absolutely mindblowing
Kiss and motley crue are amazing live too "
I don’t think I’ve ever heard the words Motley Crue and amazing live in the same sentence before but Kiss blew me away |

Ah dear that isn't good. Sorry to hear that about Iron Maiden. I really loved seeing them live. I will probably see them live again. |

Different reasons for these….
Faithless …. Just incredible not sure there was a better front man to get crowd doing what he wanted
The Specials ….. so glad they reformed before Terry’s untimely death

Most disappointing due to sound
Eminem at Wembley .
Surprisingly good Rhianna at Cardiff
And as live reputation can be good or bad
New Order in Bristol
Guns and Roses London stadium .
Have done one Hyde Park calling 2017 that was great too but tailor made line up for my taste .
People I’d like to see Rammstein Slipknot Springsteen
I’ll bore off now sorry x |

In no particular order, i can get it down to the following short list
Prodigy- the most electric atmosphere and all round full on stage performance
INXS- never seen a band so musically tight and Hutchence was easily the most perfect rock/pop front man
NIN- By far the most intense show i've ever seen
The Wonder Stuff- Consistently the best live band you could see for the last 20 years (well almost 40 if you count the full history)
Chemical Brothers- The 2018 live tour was technically mind blowing
Busted/McFly/McBusted...bit random, seen all iterations and they are really just having the most fun and a total piss about- generally hilarious to watch
Random Indian tabla player fine tuning his gear right after soundcheck at Wembley Arena- just him on the PA, utterly beautiful and mesmerising...most of the crew, stopped working just to watch and listen and gave him a round of applause when he finished |

Very hard to pick... But it's between the jam, the clash, generation x, stiff little fingers and nine below zero |

Saw nine below zero back in the day. Brilliant live. Actually forgot about them.
Wedding present always good too. |

"AC/DC always amazing, so too Foo Fighters and Green Day
Shout out for two smaller bands who are always great, Terrorvision and Bad Religion
Wouldn't say bad religion are a smaller band. "
Well no they’re not small but they’re nowhere near as big as the first three |

Just a matter of luck. Remember seeing green day in the late 80s. They were not in the same league as bad religion. |

Tooo many. We go to loads of gigs, usually
2-4 a month, but the bands I (Mrs K) always try and see again and again are
Pulp
Muse
Prodigy
Suede
Pendulum
AC/DC
The Pierce Brothers
FF
The Vaccines
And surprisingly
Franz Ferdinand with Sparks - FFS were bloody brilliant so were Pete and the Pirates.
So glad Brixton Academy is reopening this month.

I am the same. Queen couple times. The Who. Plus a lot of others. I will say as live band Slade . Must have seen them with Noddy as lead singer about five or more times. If others have seen them. Very heavy band. |

You just reminded me, I saw Green Day in about ‘91, in the small upstairs room at the Wheatsheaf in Stoke. |
